I am proud to share my latest peer-reviewed work with Nathan Kar Ming Chan and John Mok, "Desperate Acts of Democracy: Identity Threat, Autocratization and Voter Turnout in Hong Kong" out now at @chinaquarterly.bsky.social. This piece is very special to us, and likely our last survey study in HK🧵

I argue in the review that the book develops a unique account of anticolonial egalitarianism that, among other contributions, (a) advances our understanding of colonialism; (b) radicalizes egalitarian theories; and (c) expands our decolonial visions beyond a statist global order.

Happy to be interviewed for and included by @npr.org on its Word of the Week segment on Ideology! Fun to get the chance to historicize the word within the Enlightenment and Marxist traditions and open the opportunity to reflect on how ideology relates to other adjacent concepts~

It is, we believe, the first attempt to systematically introduce and ground the topic of diaspora in political theory, and while one could reasonably disagree with our argumentation, our intention to create an opening here for potential conversations in the years to come.
