"[She] noticed the forcible impression made on her mind by what is called a total eclipse of the Sun...not the darkness of Midnight but it appeared infinitely more. The same gloom which at 8 in the Evening would have excited no emotion became at noon wonderfully sublime."

As yet, I have not come across any correspondence between the two but that needn't mean there isn't any. You might find this helpful by @ajohns-putra.bsky.social: www.academia.edu/3188002/Elea... Professor Putra is an excellent scholar on Porden's poetry.

I really must familiarise myself more with the text. I've been so buried in archival research and her life, that I've not really focused on her poetry as much as I'd have liked (apart from the Arctic poetry). You might like this image from her research into Coeur www.researchgate.net/figure/FROM-...

I am not sure at the moment if the house was located on Storey Street, though for some reason it sounds familiar. I shall look out for this in my research!

That's amazing! Have you read it all? How did you discover the poem? (She's so unheard of these days, finding anyone who has heard of her or her work is extremely rare.)

I had a brilliant evening performing three ghost stories in Oxford tonight at Curio Bookshop. One by Dickens, one by E. Nesbit and one of my own. Great fun and I discovered that white foundation is an actual thing (thank goodness - no more putting flour on my face to look ghostly). #ghoststories

I think, Olga, that you should just live there, restore it to its former glory, and give talks on Crozier to interested researchers. This might invoke a friendly ghost, who could point you in the direction of further sources. Beyond that, as you say: there ain't much to put in it, more's the pity.
