i am now obsessed with a neon pink underpainting. (gouache with acrylic underpainting)

A rough underpainted sketch of a picnic scene. There is a bowl of strawberries, jar of jam, and two pieces of bread on a plate. The under painted colour of neon pink gives the whole scene and really vivid and bright look, bringing in feelings of a breezy late August picnic in the park.

The same painting rendered with more detail. The table cloth is a pink red and white gingham, the jam is bright and juicy. The strawberries are plump and ripe. The vibe of the painting is loose and some of the measurements are a bit funky but the overall quality with the warm pinks and cool blue/purple shadows makes it feel very dreamlike.

Dropping in to say that I am actually really floored by how much my skills have grown over the last 5 months of near daily painting practice. I have made painting a regular part of my morning routine. I have so much more to learn, but I am so proud of myself! These were done with gouache.

i also realized that i really really love drawing faces and portraits. I think faces are so interesting. i like these ones because i can see where I started being able to represent different features and convey some personality.
