Okay but Justin Morneau was actually good until he got a concussion that ruined his career, unless Nick Sirianni has suffered some sort of brain damage I don't know about his success is far less explicable

Man Gunner Stockton looks a lot like Brandon Flowers, it's unsettling

In the same way the Dalai Lama reincarnates after death, American culture must promote a busty blonde to stardom when the previous one ages out of the gig - Marilyn Monroe, Jane Mansfield, Pamela Anderson, Jenny McCarthy, Victoria Silvstedt, Brooklyn Decker, Kate Upton, etc. Stupid but inevitable

Big fan, Constant Craving is one of my favorite songs

Yeah that's my take on it too, when a school has every possible ingredient to be good and yet just keeps pumping out 8-4 seasons, it's gotta be some behind the scenes admin/booster shit

Oh it’s a thing, can’t speak to Mrs Harlow’s output but in general picture the type of person who gives himself a title like “Chief Inspiration Officer” at their startup writing posts about the leadership lessons they learned watching The Zone of Interest or something similarly tone deaf

Fox's scorebug has bothered me for a while now and I finally figured out why: it reminds me of the "edgy" 1990s ESPN2 house style

Here's how you know things are bad for Trump in the mid-terms: the GOP candidate for the Senate in Iowa is running on her bipartisan record

I was naively hopeful that the transfer bullshit was just a youthful indiscretion that wouldn't bleed over into the season but he's regressed so much this year that it's hard to escape the idea that he's checked out

"Not subjecting them to denazification-style trials and re-education camps" is already extending them more grace than they deserve

It's like those scared straight assemblies they'd do in the 90s (maybe still today, thankfully I'm not still in elementary school) - they'd spend an 45 minutes accidentally making drugs sound amazing, and a passing 15 on how much they destroyed their lives, which no 12 year old can relate to lol

...until I read the comments and learned it was right after Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson broke up, and for some reason the idea that he was getting that worked up over Madame Web really ruined the mystique in the same way learning Sea Change was about Beck's Scientology inspired breakup did lol

Been listening to Parachutes by Coldplay a bit recently (incredible album) and the algorithm fed me a great, super emotional rendition of Sparks from their tour last year - I always love when a band can play an old song with renewed passion years after it was released...

I've followed you for like 15 years and 75% of our interactions have been music related but by far the thing I most associate you with is an old Fullcast episode when he got hired at Arkansas after you'd finally rid him from CMU and someone said something like "he's Jerkwheats 'It Follows' monster"

Even crazier that Ferentz was in his 4th season when this happened and the video clip looks 100 years old

I bet he wishes he had some on right now, that MFer was just crying on camera - apparently he has a third emotion other than "taciturn" and "stoic"

Ironically the only time that nearly happened in the Big House was when Utah beat Michigan in 2014 after a weather delay where all the Michigan fans left. I wonder who was coaching the Utes that day

It’s like military leadership in a way - countless armies have had to cycle through generals who looked great teaching at a war college in peacetime but couldn’t hack it in combat before pulling their Ulysses Grant from some frontier outpost

Sam @sammarroy.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Kalen Deboer should use this weather delay to fly to LA and accept the USC job that Lincoln Riley is about to lose

It's the constant push-pull of the grocery industry (or any industry, really) - corporate trying to squeeze a few more pennies out of a dollar while we try to convince them that people feel actively antagonized by Christmas shit before the leaves have even turned
050
Sam @sammarroy.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Oh definitely - the ultimate cause is the buyer at the corporate office doing bulk pre-orders from the producer way in advance to get a discount, and since the distribution warehouse is also space limited they pass them along to us as soon as they get them

And, like Kevin Steele, I'd trust Dave Doeren with a gun because I know he's incapable of doing anything explosive

Sam @sammarroy.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Listen...as someone who works at a grocery store, we know. We know. Nobody hates it more than us. We got our first pallet of Halloween stuff in June this year. We do everything we can to keep it in back as long as possible but there's only so much room

I really want it to be true, the part where one of the women yells "Roll tide!" and he goes "it's rolling baby!" is just too perfect to be fiction

I'd argue he wasn't DOA, if any of the details in that SI story are true his problem was that he was too full of life lol

Disappointed they didn't work in a "Can the postman still deliver the mail?"

His recruiting ranking and constant preseason Heisman hype were/are highly influenced by his name but I still think he’d be a top 10 draft prospect even if his last name was Smith - he’s got the tools and his biggest issue is holding the ball too long, which I’m sure NFL guys think they can fix

And maybe Dan Lanning is Will Muschamp when Will Stein and Tosh Lupoi aren't around. I'm choosing to live in that world, and nobody can stop me

Sam @sammarroy.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
It took 4 years but my "Dan Lanning is more Will Muschamp than Kirby Smart" ticket might still pay out

Yeah they're too talented to be downright bad but there's something wrong with the defense right now

Sam @sammarroy.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
Kinda feels like there's something wrong with Oregon - Dante Moore might be good enough to paper over enough of their shortcomings to make the playoff but they are not a top 10 team right now

I’m not a Boise fan, regrettably
000
Sam @sammarroy.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Both things can be true: Boise is good and Oregon should not be fighting for its life against a G6 school at home when it starts the season #2. Happened against Idaho last year, even more egregiously

A ton of NBA players have been banned for betting on games, but that leaves open the possibility that they're only catching a fraction of them, so you have a point. On the other hand - I don't think it's in any league (or betting company)'s interest to turn a blind eye to match fixing/point shaving

Sam @sammarroy.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Even if that is the case, the fact that they didn't immediately announce that that was the reason when they added the second to the clock makes it impossible to not look fishy
030
Sam @sammarroy.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
The only thing I've seen that comes close to approaching a somewhat defensible explanation is that the official had the timekeeper correct the clock to 9 seconds left before the incomplete hail mary, but when the play started it immediately went to 8 seconds without a full second elapsing
