As mentioned, I loved pretty much the whole main cast, but Eiko was my favourite just by a smidge. She's a bossy wee thing, but also very childlike and I just love her, she was so endearing to me (also adorable design!).

All of the location designs, particularly the cities were beautiful and I loved loved loved the variety in characters and character design. Everything was massively charming and then you've got this heaaaavy underlying story and themes. Just brilliant.

I can never help myself so FFIX rambles : i think if i had actually played this around the same time as i did FFX and FFVIII, it might be my favourite. I loveeeee the group dynamic and almost all of them pretty much equally (*cough*Amarant*cough*). The pacing early on was so insanely good (cont).

💎 final fantasy IX i played this when i was a child, but only to the end of disc one (showing my age, oh no). finally got around to fully experiencing it and i regret not doing it sooner, what an absolute joy of a game. the cast, art, locations, music and themes are all fantastic. wonderful game.

Got my cynical detective hat on, but the steam page for 2nd chapter does not disclose GenAI usage, and most of the top search results are about how 2nd chapter ISN'T using GenAI for localisation, so I wonder if they're trying bury the GenAI they DID use

There were a few other moments in 7.56 but no spoilers 💜 I think also just particularly... it's such a potentially throw away sort of scene you could animate very basically (and you wouldn't miss anything) but MAAAAN. Someone put love into that.

I think this has been relevant since like, idk patch 7.3 or something but the animation quality in cutscenes in FFXIV has gotten so nice. Not me over here having a moment about how beautifully animated my WoL's hands were WHAT 😭

I get so depressed seeing people brush past AI usage just because it's the thing they've been waiting for so long, i.e. Crazy Taxi. The thing you loved wasn't made with AI. You loved it because of the human creativity on display. Why fool yourself? Will you buy any trash with a familiar logo?
