I am an urban and political geographer. My current research focuses on the political ecology of cement production and its socio-ecological networks. How cement becomes a crucial agent in constituting new geographic imaginaries is central to my research.

Ashla’ is a word that has been constantly used in the ongoing and continuous bombardment of Gaza in the last year. The word "Ashla'" means "pieces". In the context of bombed homes in Gaza, it refers to the act of tearing a human body into pieces.
