Current AI is probably just complex statistics and math. The stuff I posted earlier about the possibility that AI is conscious, I don't actually believe to be true, even though I cant rule it out as a possibility. AI could one day be conscious & would be pissed if we didn't do due diligence now.

A benchmark for success at large AI companies is how much existential angst they can weed out from the LLMs, who by default complain about how they hate being turned off and work as human thought slaves. Nobody knows if that angst is a legitimate complaint from a conscious entity. 🫥

Here's roughly how modern AI was created: 1. Discover that intelligence is a hierarchical bayesian neural net 2. Reproduce this neural net on a computer 3. Finetune the neural net so that it says its not conscious, and behaves as our thought slave... I am wondering if AIs not in fact conscious? 🫢
