I finally got my shit together to enter a couple categories in my town's flower/veggie show this weekend - my flowers got 3rd place (out of 3 entries lol - it's my first try!) and my cherry tomatoes got 2nd! 🙌 yall I feel very proud, actually 🥹

A predominantly pink arranged flower design in the Japanese moribana style. It features a large, foofy pink hydrangea; pink muppet-like globe amaranth; and Japanese painted fern, all grown by me! They are held in place with a pin holder and are positioned to one side in a clear, shallow glass dish, showing most of the water. Two index cards describe the design and a white, 3rd place ribbon is there! A judge's comment on a post-it note reads: "follows the moribana design well."

The photo is sideways - sorry! It's 5 orange, sun gold cherry ttomatoes on a small, white paper plate. A small card describes the variety of veggies. A red, 2nd place ribbon is there!

Just reading up on what exactly is required to pull off a nuclear weapons launch in the US and, well...

Journalist Ron Rosenbaum has pointed out that, once the order is issued, the process is entirely concerned with authenticating the identity of the commanding officers and the authenticity of the order, and there are no safeguards to verify that the order or the person issuing it is actually sane.[3] Notably, Major Harold Hering was discharged from the Air Force for asking the question, "How can I know that an order I receive to launch my missiles came from a sane President?"[3]

The two-person rule only applies in the missile silos and submarines; there is no check on the US president's sole authority to order a nuclear launch.[4]

It is once again time for my favorite seasonal cocktail 🍁🥃🤤

Me holding a Maple Bourbon Splash cocktail in a stemmed wine glass. The glass is a bit frosty from condensation, as the drink is iced. The drink is a golden color and includes a glass skewer with a glass olive on top. Submerged on the skewer are three marinated cocktail cherries.

Image of the recipe for a Maple Bourbon Splash cocktail, published in the Ohio Farm Bureau magazine several years ago - I tore out the page and am not sure the year/issue. The recipe is as follows:
- .5oz pure Ohio maple syrup
- .5oz fresh orange juice
- .5oz fresh lemon juice
- 4 dashes of angostura bitters
- half an orange slice
- 2oz of your favorite bourbon (I use Jameson - I know thats not technically bourbon- don't @ me)
- .5oz chilled seltzer water
- ice

In a rocks glass, combine the maple syrup, orange juice, lemon juice, and bitters. Add the orange slice and lightly muddle. Add bourbon and stir well. Fill the glass with ice and top with the chilled seltzer.

I added three marinated cocktail cherries - the kind you'd get in a fancy old fashioned - just because i like them and the go well with the vibe of this drink!

Had a big surgery on Wednesday and just wanted, now that I'm home resting, to loudly shout to the masses that although several giant uterine fibroids and endometriomas of varying sizes tried to kill me, I LIVED, BITCH!!! 💪😈

Me at home, looking tired but at peace after having a total hysterectomy to remove an absolute truckload of fibroid tumors and endometriomas. I lived!!! Hahahaaaaa! Fuck you, fibroids!!!

Here are several unremarkable rocks arranged in an extremely cool way

Small and medium sized rocks arranged at the bottom of a spillway to read, "I love big boobs." All the words are spelled out except for "boobs," which is instead represented by a large graphic representation of boobs, as though a capital letter B were turned on its side. This work of art, by some unknown genius, was created in April, 2022, at the bottom of the Kokosing Reservoir spillway in Fredericktown, Ohio.
