From Anna Małgorzata Kamińska in the latest C&RL News: crln.acrl.org/index.php/cr...
When students ask a generative Al system to summarize the state of the field rather than searching our databases, they are not bypassing a
search tool. They are bypassing an epistemic institution-one that has
historically organized the conditions under which knowledge claims are
validated, evaluated, and made trustworthy. The difference matters
more than we have been willing to say.

Another favorite:
A Homecoming

One faith is bondage. Two
are free. In the trust
of old love, cultivation shows
a dark graceful wilderness
at its heart. Wild
in that wilderness, we roam
the distances of our faith,
safe beyond the bounds
of what we know. O love,
open. Show me
my country. Take me home.

Really appreciate this AI Disclosure statement I just saw on a Public Services Quarterly article, especially the final sentence.
AI disclosure
One author works on a Microsoft campus. Copilot could not be disabled during the writing of this draft.
Four detectors indicated the text was 100% generated by Al on April 22, 2026. Perhaps due to using something in Copilot to summarize a document we were working on for a different publication. The draft was reviewed by both authors in Google Docs. This highlights a need to advocate for and regulate insinuation of Al tools across academia, especially switching the default to require actively opting-in rather than fighting repeatedly to opt-out.

When my mom sends a care package, we all get something.
A large white and ginger cat is lying in a cardboard box but thinking about jumping out because I have disturbed him by trying to take his picture.

When I played Alysa Liu's short program earlier, this guy immediately ran over to the TV and watched intently the whole time. I can only guess he thought she was a wonderful golden bird. 😻

I've never posted a screenshot of the other site, but I want to give credit to the person who seems to have been first to remark upon the scare quotes.
Megan (@megievalist), referring to the poster for Emerald Fennell's "Wuthering Heights" starring Margot Robbie & Jacob Elordi on X:

the scare quotes are doing a lot of work here

Felicia Lamport's poem "Deprivacy," from her book Light Metres (Everest House, 1982, illustrated by Edward Gorey). Originally published with a different final verse in Look magazine, December 15, 1970.

Although we feel unknown, ignored
As unrecorded blanks,
Take heart! Our vital selves are stored
In giant data banks:

Our childhoods and maturities,
Efficiently complied.
Our stocks and insecurities
Elaborately filed,

Our tastes and our proclivities
In gross and in particular,
Our incomes, our activities
Both extra- and curricular.

And such will be our happy state
Until the day we die
When we'll be snatched up by the great
Computer in the sky.

Kristin Chenoweth on Instagram: I'm. So. Upset. Didn't always agree but appreciated some perspectives. What a heartbreak. His young family. I know where he is now. Heaven. But still. broken heart emoji

Which perspectives?

Which perspectives, Kristin?

Important update. #PeonyWatch
The pink peony has opened. It has fringy petals in the center with larger, smoother petals behind them. Not pictured: It also smells amazing.

Academic librarian here. I try to capture the wonderful inscriptions and inclusions I see in the stacks, but I've usually (sadly) neglected to note which books while going about my work. Here's one I found glued inside the front cover of Eugene Field's Little Book of Tribune Verse:
(A handwritten note on lined paper)
December 11, 2006
I believe it appropriate to make this record for all to read. This book of poetry written by Eugene Fields, written in the early 1880s, was never read in entirety until — this date — 105 years after its publication. Since 1901 it has sat on the shelf of this library without ever having been fully appreciated
How do I know this? From p. 150 onward I discovered that many of the pages were still fused together as they were when they first came off ~~the~~ from the printer. No one ever took the time, as I have done to slice one page away from the other.
To think that his thoughts have been stowed away in the tomb of time only to see the light on this day. Certainly a reality deserving a poem with lays of humor and pathos.
