I check it like 4 times a year to see what's up with people I know. I haven't posted in years. Awful place.

I am so sorry this is happening

Hopefully they will at least give it a good cleaning. They may not have money but they can use elbow grease! Some handiness skills might help too.

I'm so eager to see how things progress! Don't take misunderstandings to heart- maybe see them as signs you are writing unique characters that challenge your readers. They are NOT stock characters (and that's what I love about them) - trust that your readers are along for the ride.

So beautiful! Snow in a city is so special because of how quiet it gets - I get that feel from these.

Yes, the covering (skin?) is a nice part too!

I love potatoes done this way. If you cut them in spears (like cut that half into thirds) you have more surface area to get crispy. But we all have our ideal ratios. This year I bought a countertop convection oven/air fryer - so good for this job!

Sometimes you need to air things out!

Yes, that's what I meant! I remember that conversation now - he seems to be carrying out his intention then.

Is Andrew quite taken by Beren? He seems very willing to be adaptable.

It's still very early in the process of things

I just rebooted everything and the issue went away 🤷‍♂️

SamD. @samdelancy.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

He also has never had anything that was just "his". But how much can he allow himself?

030

SamD. @samdelancy.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

Very astute. Yes everything feels very provisional to him.

There was stash of sweets that Otis had in his room, that he had bought (the only things he seemed to have bought) with the money they gave him as an allowance. It was always arranged in a particular way, and if it got disturbed he would put it back, just so. 7/7

There was the cardboard box that Otis had brought with him that stayed, untouched, in the corner. And then there was the candy. 6/7

They encouraged Otis to decorate the spare bedroom that had become his - offered to take him shopping, buy posters, new bedclothes, new paint, anything. But Otis looked to the side, said maybe, but never said yes. So the room looked the same as it had as a guest bedroom, with 2 exceptions. 5/7

His foster parents noticed that though they had a maid, Otis did his own laundry, cleaned up his dishes, repaired the sink when it leaked, cleaned his own bathroom, and looked alarmed when they said he didn't need to do those things. So they just let him do them. There was a lot they noticed. 4/7

So Otis had had that life - and then this one, and he had no idea how those 2 lives could exist together. When his mother called him, he did not return the calls. When his parents had coped with the removal of the children by replacing them with new babies, he knew it was over with them. 3/7

Otis could not recall any adults ever taking care of him. He had been the eldest of 6, and for most of his life had been a kind of parent to the younger ones. His parents barely coped, and then they didn't - and so the children had been removed after a report had been made. 2/7

Otis had been with the Heckings for several months. They had poured into him. They gave him his own room, and even his own "study" - with tv, his own computer, books, and plenty of video games. They gave him athletic gear and took him on his first ever vacation. And they gave him their time. 1/7

Thanks for answering. I'll wait a while, maybe reboot everything, and try later.

Is there some kind of limit or something on uploads of threads here? I've been trying to upload a second thread (or only 7 posts), but it won't let me and blames the internet connection (which is fine).

They knew their lifestyles would not mesh well with very young children, but they liked the idea of being role models and caretakers for a teenager who could really use attention, care, and their resources. Someone they could pour into. And so it was that 15 year old Otis came to live with them. 7/7

They had never regretted their decision not to have children. But with so much more space, a little more time, a lot more money, and more sense of their capacity to give, one day Brant raised the idea of fostering a child - and to his surprise and delight, Brent was fully on board. 6/7

But the house, though beautiful, was big. There were several bedrooms, but just 2 humans. There was room for Brent's studio, a workout room, a hot tub and pool, a study, two sitting rooms, dining and kitchen, a garden, and more. (Original shell by Harrie, with my interior decorating) 5/7

They were well known for their charity fundraisers in their home, raising funds for animal rescue (as both their dogs had been). Pet adoptions had skyrocketed in town. They also raised funds for elderly and disabled sims who had pets to be able to keep them. 4/7

Since Brent hit it big in the art world, the couple splurged on building a new home on the lot they had already owned. It's been a project of love for them both, housing the art that they have collected, and establishing a standard of taste in the town (mostly Brent's taste to be sure).2/7

It's a rainy Harvestfest day at the Hecking household in Brindleton Bay. It turns out that if you feed a home cooked meal to one dog, the other dog will show up and complain (there have been quite a few changes to the Hecking household, an extra dog is only one of them). Stay tuned for the rest. 1/7

It's very great at street level too, moving through the streets and down to the water. Being out on that stunning blue water is a thrill too.

They might as well talk about this since they don't want to watch the movie anyway. Beren being less experienced means he's also less experienced in discussing/negotiating, so it makes sense they kind of stumbled here. But however they got here, it's where they should be anyway.

Chilly and rainy here and this sent me down a rabbit hole of apple recipes. Heading to the store later so I can cheer things up in a similar fashion - Thanks for the inspo!
