It's an incredible spot even with the numbers down. Here's a shaky video from us rounding in a race earlier this summer:

This has reminded me of this excellent Chilean graffiti.
A hoot of a dog lying next to a stenciled image of the same dog.

43 years old with over a decade in electoral politics? Time to forgive some youthful missteps.

Well if you're following google maps North it takes you over the top of the Hambleton fells for some reason whereas going south it sticks to the valley. With that in mind, I'd say Sun-Lon every time...

We just had our bathroom done and now it feels more like:

I kind of love that I can think of dozens, maybe hundreds, of moments from olympic opening/closing ceremonies over the years and precisely one from the world cup:

Everyone's gone Sparks but can I also throw Third Highest Rated Prince Prince Tribute Act in Lancashire (Facebook reviews, 2014)?

Lost in the noise really but this is somehow the most strangely stocked bar I've ever seen: a bunch of warm bubbly, two bottles of malibu, tequilla rose and a couple of bottles of corner shop tequilla.
A strange assortment of bottles in a suspended shelving unit which makes it look like they're floating.

It's a shame this is so focused on the superyacht side because there's an interesting story about the lower end where the spending power of the middle classes is declining dramatically. As a sport, sailing is in a lot of trouble if costs continue to rise as quickly as they have.

Saw this classic of the genre the other day
A comment below a Michael Soloman transcription video entitled "Bill Evans most Famous Performance" where Chuck Israels, the bassist in the clip comments: "Playing the bass part was relatively easy because Bill and Larry didn’t depend on it. Theo time was so good that I could place my rhythms where they were most effective. This is a superb transcription."

Possibly not the absolute worst but living within earshot of St James’s has rather radicalised me on the subject of Hypersonic Missiles by Sam Fender.
The lyrics to the first verse of hypersonic missiles

I want to update this to point out that Gaddings Dam - home of West Yorkshire's premier beach - was built 10 years before Wuthering Heights was written.

Some very early documentary photography of the event too.
An image of Newcastle quayside from the Guildhall to all saints taken from Gateshead. The area East of Sandhill is badly damaged by the fire and wrecked sailing boats are moored at the quay.Ruined buildings on newcastle quayside showing the damage done to local traders, identifiable by their signage, Prominent are Featherstone Elder Merchants and Hay Bakers.

Since you'll be nearby, I'm going to mention something small I keep meaning to investigate. The rustic, old stone wall connecting Dene Close to Jesmond Park west which seems to me most likely to be a survivor of the old pre-residential field boundary. Certainly matches the line.

I'd have thought the MERL would be pretty ok when it comes to "massive onion mobilisations"?

Very much enjoy how they've used the caption to make it easy to identify her in the photo.
A screenshot of the article in which the caption identifies the subject by the colour of her shoes whilst cropping the picture above her ankles.

Contrary to received wisdom, there's definitely accounting for taste.
