It says "No Brain Drain" but they're showing a brain being drained of toxic waste. I'm getting mixed messages from this ad for Bible Pogs.

It's an ad (?) in a Christian gaming magazine with "NO BRAIN DRAIN!" in large text up at the top. The text of the ad is telling you that Bible CAPS (pogs) and video games will help you glorify God. There is an illustration of two people in hazmat suits siphoning something from a brain into a barrel labelled "Mental Toxic Waste!" These product were available from you local Christian Bookstore or the Christian Comics Catalog.

A little Umbreon is hopping in front of a standing Braixen who is ready to speak, and has a blue sphere in front of her.

A small Umbreon is hopping in some waterlogged ancient ruins, in front of a Lucario wearing a hoodie and holding a fishing rod.

The equipment screen from Super Metroid, except the Samus wireframe has been replaced by an anthropomorphic Umbreon (as drawn by BACHELORSOFT). Equipment categories include Beanz, Beam, Lungz, Dawg, and Paws.

Regarding the size of levels in Super Mario Bros 3, the game loads them in full into the WRAM on the cart, hogging 6480/8196 of the bytes available there. This is enough for standard areas to be 15 screens wide. (I think levels can be multiple areas, but don't quote me on that.)

I'm working on a Super Metroid mod starring my oomfie @ambureon.bsky.social -- this is as much as I'm willing to share in public at the current moment. It will release next month, whether anyone likes it or not.

The pause screen of Super Metroid, except Samus has been replaced by some furry creature. The categories are BEANZ, BEAM, LUNGZ, DAWG, and PAWS. One of the items is listed as "UR TEH DOG NOW." An arrow points to the creature, who is also depicted on the HUD.

This avatar is a redraw of an early scene from my silly ZZT game "Awful Dates Done Quick", which in turn was a redraw of a piece my wife drew for me.

The same scene as the previous post, but drawn in ZZT (using text-mode characters). In the background Samantha's mom and younger sister can be seen (both frogs).

Later that year, I ended up putting the redesigned suit back in #ZZT. It was a tight fit with the object limit, but I'm proud of how it turned out.

A couple years later I traced over the piece to redo it as some rudimentary pixel art. A few months later, I felt compelled to redesign the suit/helmet to be a bit more original.

The ANSI art in the above post, reinterpreted as marginally smoother pixel art.

A redesign of the frog suit helmet to look slightly less like a certain popular character.
