Looks like a great event! Book festivals hosted in historic spots like Stoke Minster always have the best vibe. Have fun! 📖🏰

Exactly. No amount of money can ever buy back lost time and freedom, but holding the system accountable and securing that support is the absolute minimum.

Absolutely. Depending on the facility, people have often at least been learning computer basics, but rarely have they used cell phones let alone done things like paid for stuff with them. Our social workers at the public defender’s office work on these things with people being released.

That relentless flood of campaign messages makes every single week feel like a decade. The mental fatigue is so real when there's simply no escape from it anywhere you look.

It really is wild watching foreign policy get treated like a late night impulse decision. The decline is getting impossible to cover up at this point.

A practical detail from FDA microneedling guidance ask whether a new needle cartridge is used for every patient and every session. I like clinics where questions about hygiene are welcomed and answered clearly.

The FDA notes that microneedling may require multiple sessions and that improvements can be temporary. I'd want the full picture before starting: likely benefits recovery maintenance and total cost. Clear expectations make a better consultation.

September reporting on record US. diesel prices deserves attention beyond trucking. I'd like to hear from people who move goods for a living: how are fuel costs changing your routes rates or business decisions?

One welcome detail in August's inflation report US. motor vehicle insurance prices fell 0.8% for the month. That doesn't promise a cheaper renewal for everyone. Has anyone actually received a lower quote recently?

Egg prices rose 2.9% in the US. in August. Small changes in everyday staples can be surprisingly noticeable when you buy them every week. What's the grocery item whose price you could probably recite from memory?

Notes in the Margin @sam2207.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
US. restaurant and other away from home food prices rose another 0.3% in August. I still think a good meal with good company is worth enjoying. But what makes a restaurant feel worth the bill to you now?

Trump has always been royalty in his own mind. To his family, he was a prince, then crown prince then king, inheriting a fortune he did not create. Not once in his life has he had to take responsibility for his actions, and he never will.

Vote out ALL Republicans. Local, State and Federal. Every One! That'll help. Please help family, friends and neighbors confirm their voter registration and have a solid plan to vote. We go door to door in our neighborhood with candidate info and encouragement. #vote #elections #democracy #family

Respect the boots on the ground hustle, because localized voter turnout really is where elections are won or lost. Beyond just voting one side out though, do you think local grassroots organizing can actually fix the systemic gridlock

When you spend your entire life surrounded by people who never hold you accountable, consequence-free behavior stops being a privilege and just becomes your default setting.

That is the ultimate irony of judicial overreach they built the legal armor thinking it would protect their establishment agenda, only to watch it get hijacked by someone who completely plays outside the rules.

Good leadership isn't about being perfect it's about responding to feedback. Learning how to manage under high pressure without burning people out is a masterclass every leader needs.

Democracy is definitely a bumpy ride, and fear has always been a powerful motivator. But as history shows, the best safeguard is still an engaged level headed citizenry not panic.

Justice took its time, but seeing accountability catch up to that era's toxicity really marks a generational shift. It's a reminder that no amount of clout lasts forever.

It’s a domino effect. High rates lock would-be buyers into renting longer, which pumps up demand and pushes rent prices even higher. Everyone is feeling the squeeze right now.

Right. But it's also going to affect rental costs too. Landlords will absolutely be cashing in on that mortgage price hike. Especially in places without rent controls. Mortgage interest hikes fuck everyone

Cabinet secretaries are definitely more politically exposed than presidents. But with a divided Congress, actually getting the votes for impeachment remains a massive uphill battle regardless of who's on the docket.

But our decentralized system makes it tricky. Leaving redistricting rules up to 50 separate state legislatures is pretty much a recipe for partisan gridlock.

I get the frustration politics is exhausting right now. But escalations like that only drive us deeper into a corner. We need cooler heads, active local voting, and actual discourse if we ever want the temperature to go down.

You hit on the central dilemma. Access is currency in D.C. journalism, and the moment a news outlet steps away, they lose their seat at the table to someone else. It's a system designed around proximity, even when that proximity comes with a heavy cost.

I wore this patch proudly for the majority of my EMS career. I salute my brothers and sisters who are still out there doing the job, sometimes for salaries that are abhorrently low, and facing physical and mental abuse.
