Happy Zero Cool day. Hope everyone is getting their watches in. It feels good on VHS.

Happy Zero Cool day!
A still from the scene from Hackers (1995) in which Lord Nikon discovers Dade Murphy was "Zero Cool". "Zero Cool? Crashed fifteen hundred and seven systems in one day? Biggest crash in history, front
page, New York Times, August 10th, 1988."

I think I watched hackers 1.5 times yesterday. Here is my work desktop background currently (it rotates between my hand-selected stills from the film every 20 minutes).
A screenshot of a desktop background, which is itself a screenshot from the 1995 film Hackers. Specifically, it is a scene in which Joey is staring at the source code of a "worm", which in this case looks like math and fractals swirling around with Joey's face superimposed over it.

I found some more shots of those folks who climbed the empire state building yesterday
A still from the 1995 film Hackers, in which Crash Override (Jonny Lee Miller as Dade Murphy a.k.a. Zero Cool), The Phantom Phreak (Renoly Santiago as Ramόn Sánchez), Lord Nikon (Laurence Mason as Paul Cook), and Acid Burn (Angelina Jolie as Kate Libby) are on a service platform on the Empire State Building. Yes, but I don't know if it was the original or "express" version, but I'm starting to understand why the original might have helped when nothing else did 😮

It's weirdly hard to find good info on how their cord-antenna setup worked, but this wiring diagram makes it pretty clear that it is attached to the power cord, but via a capacitor. You are safe to leave that lug detached, but can always tape it if you don't trust that capacitor.

I took a picture of my newly rearranged desk of vintage computers and shared it on my BBS so I could view it on my vintage computers.

I won't be happy until everything I do for fun on the computer can be in glowing amber. I'm glad you took this one on, Cara. Now I can focus on my other telnet projects

Reading New Session in July was a direct inspiration for starting my BBS project and recent hyperfixation on developing software with older devices in mind. I can't stop myself!

Funny timing, I just replied to someone else with this. Loved my visor.

I tried to skeet from my PDA but had to settle for posting on a BBS

This is by far the coolest thing I found in the pile of stuff my parents brought down a few weeks ago. My brother and I wrote notes in here for our first plays through the first three games.

Who wants to join my homemade BBS? We talk about old (mostly apple) hardware there, but not very much yet because most of my other friends with old hardware are too busy. So I guess, in reality, we (mostly I) talk about the BBS on the BBS.

They really should have committed to modding all of the characters. Look at this crew

You asked for it. This particular horny mod was more modest than I'd expected. Her nipple only even shows when she serves. I checked all of the other characters and none of them were altered. In contrast, the next opponent, Biff, is just fully shirtless the whole time.

Never, in one billion years, would this have been a game I'd guess someone would make a nude hack for.

It is a good day. This lucky find of an Macintosh SE/30 is running beautifully.

Morning, Bluesky! Today is my last day of work before a much needed week off. I'm happy to report that the chicks are settling in well in the new coop, and even (with enough time and a little nudge to clear a traffic jam at the door) made their way into the henhouse on their own last night. Hooray!

Success! The chicks have moved into their new home. Still a bit shy and suspicious, but they'll settle in soon enough.

Oh hello, Geraldine! Here's one of the two (unnamed) barred owls who have been frequenting our property this year. They've been lurking since at least April, so I suspect they call our woods home. Also, as always, somewhat judgmental.
