The Bird Tattoo Flash Fundraiser on August 15 raised an incredible $6,100 for Salthaven! These funds will help provide care for our feathered patients 🦉. HUGE thanks to Soul Fire Tattoo Studio, Kristine, Lori-Anne, all the artists, raffle prize donors, and everyone who supported the event! 👏
Salthaven founder Brian Salt stands outside in front of the Salthaven Wildlife sign with Kristine Vodon, owner of Soul Fire Tattoo Studio and one of the tattoo flash fundraiser organizers. Staff member Brittany, and Astra, Salthaven’s Great Horned Owl wildlife ambassador are standing nearby. Brian and Kristine hold a large novelty cheque made out to Salthaven for $6,100.

Today is International Vulture Awareness Day and we wanted to make sure you were aware of how cool (oops we mean chic) Turkey Vultures are! They are Ontario’s only native vulture, they puke when threatened, pee on their feet, prevent the spread of disease, and they play an important role in nature!

We have the most amazing support system here at Salthaven. Fellow animal lovers who are willing to go that extra mile to help wildlife in need. 🪱 One of our more memorable tales comes from a father and son who chewed on earthworms to feed to a bird they rescued – and that’s only half the story!
