I don’t think I’m the only person who will appreciate this
Triangular diagram labelled The Introvert
Hierarchy of Needs.

Top: Self-actualisation - A completely empty house. An arrow pointing to the house says “Nobody needs anything. Nobody is coming home for hours. Phone on silent.”

The next level is Esteem - Plans getting cancelled. An arrow here says “‘Sorry, we're going to have to rearrange.’ Oh no. That's terrible. I'm devastated.”

Next level: Belonging - One person you actually like. No group chat. No networking. No "let's go round and introduce ourselves." Just one person you can talk absolute shit with.

Fourth level: Safety - An escape route. Own car. End seat. Knowing exactly when the event finishes. A believable reason to leave early.

Bottom of pyramid: Physiological needs - Being left the fuck alone for a bit. Food. Water. Sleep. 45 minutes where nobody speaks to you.

Predators don’t work in a silo. The Epstein files, Gisèle Pelicot, the over 50 students involved in the Cornell scandal - hundreds of men knew about the sexual assaults and abuses. And did nothing. No more silence. No more inaction. Add your name. bit.ly/4jv2tSs

What-ifs often creep into my head following stories about politicians, VIPs, or wider civic society. I'm left thinking about the instances of 'kompromat' that never reach the front pages, but leave those caught in compromising situations blackmailed, silenced, and manipulated. 🤔

A thought that often enters my head: I wonder how many people, particularly women, have been exploited under the guise of social research, unwittingly part of an experiment on societal norms, and what the architects of it hoped they’d achieve.
