I use Ellipsus for most of my roughs or whenever I get inspired away from my computer, because it’s web based so I can access it anywhere. It also keeps it safe (hopefully) from being scraped by AI. But then I get it all into LibreOffice for actually editing and formatting.

I don’t know what I did but my body feels great this morning. No aches or pains, and my skin feels soft and comfy. The air outside is crisp and cool while bed is comfy warm. And my sheets still smell subtly of drier sheets. I wish I could bottle this feeling and keep it forever…

I was lightly startled as Erina walked up beside me. “What dress did mom pull out?” she asked, peering down over the railing, as I was.

To my shock, my cousin wore a simple and modest layered dress in light Sotharan blue. A silver necklace shined gently around her neck, and she was styled with a side braid in her hair, that I could immediately tell was Cam's handiwork, given the pristinely tight braids.

“A new one," I answered. "I… didn’t expect you’d want to join.”

“Why?” Resentment rang clear in her voice. “Because I’m a child?”

“No," I quickly corrected. "Because you’ve always said that you don’t like formal parties. Let alone dressing up for one.”

“It’s hardly what I'd call a party. Only a handful of guests.”

#ScribesUnited 9:36 PM PST I got dressed, went to the bank, and overall had a pretty decent day. Still stressed over medical stuff but I’m at least getting things done. Including writing! I’m on 800 words for the day exactly, and am just taking a small break for some bsky.

After the adrenaline began to die down, things grew even fuzzier. My memory of events after that were left in fragmented pieces. According to Lusana, I had suffered a nasty concussion.

Vague recollections of walking back through the tunnel were marred by conflicting memories of being carried by Char. I could recall being helped out of the truck, but never getting in. And at some point, after being laid down in a bed, I closed my eyes with a silent prayer that I would wake in the morning.

Soft brown eyes looked down upon us from the throne, seeming heavy, cheeks wet from tears. Her long golden hair was messed and knotted, and her breathing weak and tired. Yet even still, in her billowing white gown, she was beautiful.

As her eyes drifted towards Liz, her smile faded, and her regal voice gave way to a more casual tone. “Are those… my sister’s clothes?”

As if oblivious to the mood in the room, Liz smiled and spoke brightly. “Hey Cat! Raided Iris’ wardrobe at the villa. Glad to see you’re in good health, and all that. Wish I could say the same but…” She shrugged. “Well, you know...”

My mother stared, but eventually returned a small smile, speaking with genuine concern in her voice. “I’m so sorry, Elissa. I wish we had reunited under better circumstances.”

Zeta gasped, as she peered within. A stunningly beautiful pendant, and a sturdy yet unassuming gold necklace cord to pair with it. The pendant contained a large oval garnet of exquisite quality, and a gold phoenix cradled it from the side, it’s body and tail wrapped around below.

Zeta understood it’s meaning in an instant. But as she rested upon the hospital bed, she wondered if she could ever live up to it.
