It’s not inherently bourgeois to be non-binary. And JGP could have invested that energy better by focusing on why equal protection means bodily autonomy.

Saielle 🏳️‍⚧️🇧🇷 @saielle.bsky.social · 23/07/2025

JGP isn’t wrong about those arguments being made or cited. My contention is that we should agree about the 14th Amendment, and drop the idea that transition is a special right instead of one already guaranteed, which JGP also argues. But where her argument falls over is in the class analysis.

So, JGP is right about the 14th amendment being the best way forward in American law. Where this take falls over is in needlessly expending energy on building a somewhat informed but still fairly shallow and ultimately false dichotomy.

I really like the folks I’ve found on #FilmSky and between that and #DaggerHeart I’ve been busy.

For example: Today was a banger of a movie day while I packed and tidied my house a bit. I watched: Morbius, because I hate myself. Shirkers, because I was curious. Zack Snyder’s Justice League —because my girlfriend convinced me to give it a second chance (she was right). The Wrath of Becky

If you came for discourse I apologise that mostly I’m hot and interested in movies these days.

Which is a really strange choice when we can all agree bodily autonomy is right and important to all of us.

Anyways thanks for coming to my discourse

The right to a sex change is just as vapid as the implied right to validity that JGP is positioning herself against. The rights of trans people are feminist in nature and best supported under the umbrella of bodily autonomy we all hold in common.

Saielle 🏳️‍⚧️🇧🇷 @saielle.bsky.social · 22/07/2025

The liberal establishment has already decided that trans people are not even worth thinking about as a sacrifice. So you need to fall back on the rights that ARE universally grounded in leftist thinking. Bodily autonomy, informed consent and universal healthcare.

Saielle 🏳️‍⚧️🇧🇷 @saielle.bsky.social · 22/07/2025

Transgender Liberalism - Is not in fact a real thing for most of us. If you want to argue for proletarian rights, the fundamental right to bodily autonomy is right there and the one underpinning all of our expressions. Nonbinary people aren’t the enemy of my rights, the denial of my autonomy is.

Historians thought this trans woman was murdered by the Nazis, but she escaped and lived to be 74

People act like the government would conduct experiments on anyone with super powers but do you know how hard getting a research grant is?

I think the correlation between trans people and autistic people is because (although I can’t speak for all autistic people) we’re not great at handling it when Things are Wrong. The food has a weird texture. Everyone is making too much noise. My body is the wrong gender. My sheets are all itchy.

Was at Stroud pride discussing attendance with a queer friend. We both observed that settled gay men and lesbian couples seem in very low attendance compared to trans and queer people. Obviously for those who can fit the cis-heteronormative pattern there's less call to show up but there's also 1/3🧵

BREAKING: A federal judge in Massachusetts (the Reagan-appointed William Young) has declared the Trump administration's cuts to NIH grants — ostensibly over Trump's EOs on gender ideology and DEI — are "illegal" and "void." He's ordering many grants restored.

The reason that the NYT editorial board, the Atlantic writing staff, etc hate Zohran is because he’s one of the only living progressive politicians with genuine intent of leveraging power

political press is doing a real disservice by basically not reporting the nuances of public opinion on deportations, and creating the appearance that most americans support the stephen miller-style gestapo tactics

Finally I finished this strange deep dive finishing season 5 of The Handmaid’s tale. And I don’t know what to say about my mental health or why these are the things I chose to watch. Whatever this says about me I know I’m really struggling right now with the past. With the future.

Later today I watched ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ Directed by Martin Scorsese. And it reminded me of my time in Oklahoma. The race riots and their violence were still having lasting effects when I lived there almost 20 years ago. Oklahoma is such a fascinating setting that’s often overlooked.

Today in film, tv, and cinema I spent time with parts of my past I don’t regularly engage with much anymore. I watched a film about the second coming of Jesus and that made me remember my evangelical upbringing.

I’m bisexual in that I’m attracted to Pedro Pascal and Ncuti Gatwa. My girlfriend is bisexual in that she’s attracted to almost every Doctor Who Doctor and most of the companions. We are not the same.

I watched the most unhinged and amazing movie today. Second Coming with Christopher Eccleston. He plays the second coming of the son of god, but from Manchester. It was wild.

Saw the new Final Destination and it actually made me cry lol. I have a lot of problems related to Agoraphobia. Seeing my worst anxieties rendered in silly extremity is oddly therapeutic. Then the beautiful Tony Todd just straight up tells me to live my life without fear. Fucked me up.
