a few pearls about fever that i find myself repeating to trainees (and patients): - fevers often resolve on their own, and it can be hard to know if any intervention changed the course - fevers tend to come at night. "afebrile so far today" is not always reassuring - fever ≠ infection #idsky

Watching episode of ER from 2001. Dr. Chen & Dr. Carter are trying to diagnose an unconscious preschooler. Carter: “Could be measles.” Chen: “Measles? Have you ever seen measles?” Carter: “No, have you?” Chen: “Of course not, nobody’s seen measles.” So far backwards in such a short time.

🔥Just published 🔥NEJM SNAP RCT In patients with MSSA bacteremia, cefazolin was noninferior to flucloxacillin or cloxacillin with respect to 90-day mortality and was associated with a lower incidence of acute kidney injury. #idsky www.nejm.org/doi/full/10....

Reflecting on the first iteration of ESCMID’s #EmergingInfectiousDiseases course in Seville. Excellent discussions on arboviruses, VHF, and the role of AI, genomics and bioinformatics in outbreak detection. A really valuable few days for future preparedness! #PandemicPreparedness #OneHealth

💡 Solutions only become solutions when they’re adopted. In #AMR research, that means going beyond the lab but involving the public and patients to understand lived experiences, shape priorities, and ensure interventions truly work in practice. #AMSBelfast2025 #PPI #AMS #MicroSky #IDSky

Flucloxacillin has long been the workhorse for MSSA bacteraemia. But SNAP trial data suggest cefazolin or benzylpenicillin may lead to better outcomes. Time to revisit our default? This could be a practice-changing moment. #SNAPtrial #ClinicalMicrobiology #JournalClub
