On this day, 40 years ago, AIDS in the UK passed a grim milestone. The first UK AIDS cases were reported in 1982. In less than 2 years 100 cases had been identified, almost all of them among gay and bi men, a community largely reviled or ignored by the general population and Thatcher’s Government.
