I don't think live service games as a concept are bad. A game that is in continuous development and iteration can be a good thing. We have games in other genres that work and are doing well. Just don't chase after a market with entrenched players looking to make a quick buck.

Yeah I would probably be the boss who helped you for 80% of the game only find out your favorite friend was the BBEG all along and you now have to not only fight your friend it's also a 3 phase fight that is 1 dps check and 2 puzzle fights but the order is random.

I agree there are uses for the technology that are not entirely toxic to human creativity. Like it's ability crawl the web and find websites makes it a decent search engine. (but I hate the Ai summaries so much) But the good use cases are vastly overshadowed by it being a grift machine.

Well even if you hadn't expected to get money from it. Because let's be real very few writers make a living wage. And those that do ether starved for awhile before they got an audience or are writing for someone else in most cases. It stops more people from adding their voice to the zeitgeist.

If your job has anything to do with writing capitalist want to replace them with LLMs. The only small bright point is that basically none of these projects make money and they are autocanabalistic. However the damage it's done will be felt for decades even after the bubble pops.

It's a grift. The battlefield is different but the objective is the same. Strip creatives of compensation we saw this before in the 30-40s. At the dawn of the music recording industry. It's now happening to written and drawn works with Gen Ai. But it's taking pot shots at other fields as well.
