Heck yeah.
Human-made over 5 years

No AI has been used to generate any code or content in or about the game, and never will be. Slow Roads has been a labour of love since the project began in 2021, and has been built with a decade of experience in 3D graphics and creative software development. Textures are hand-drawn, sounds are recorded locally, and all systems are designed and engineered specifically for the unique context of the game. This is a solo-developed project that I take great care over, and I believe AI simply doesn't belong in creative projects like these.

Please note that procedural generation is not a form of generative AI; the procedures used to generate the world in the game are mathematical functions that have been derived and defined by hand, with direct creative intent.

it can't exist outside of your memories, perhaps it shouldn't even. but it like, lives, it has a life of its own now.

because the experience wasn't a temporal thing, or rather the temporality, the sequence of events, wasn't the point. the point was the experience, the memories you built.

and then you're not "playing" anymore, you exist in the medium. the lines blur and disappear and you melt into one whole experience. once the session is done, you sit down and think and think and you try to put that to words but words inevitably fail you

it's the feeling you get, if you've ever done this, when you're running a ttrpg game and you give the players something and then the players give you something back, something more, and this thing no longer is mine or yours but it's ours

there's a sort of sense of love that kind of permeates big walk. It's a love for the craft of video games, a love for friendship, a love for the land, a love for quality time

what other piece of art have you experienced that upon completing it you wanted to give its creators a long hug and just sob uncontrollably in their arms

It's kinda sad, but I don't recall how my first ever ttrpg session went. I guess it went well, coz I've never stopped DMing for over a decade

Your opponent then sees you tire yourself out and then you get hit

When you're a noob at sparring, you tend to want to go and do the first attack, because frankly you get bored of waiting. This is not a good move, apparently, because 1) defending and reacting is easier and 2) you tire yourself out

i do concede, however, that such specificity in itself might be the telltale sign of a slop machine, as these theft machines were probably trained on such victorian novels, being freely accessible as PDFs, not that inaccessibility has ever troubled their training algorithms, such as they are

i have decided that, in order to ensure that none may think that anything i write is genAI, for i cannot think of anything more horrifying, i shall write as if i were a narrator of a victorian novel, wherein they speak as though the period, insofar as it demarcates the end of a sentence, exists not

creating cults the sow discord among the christians, creating schisms and such. as far as i know, christians will do that by themselves if you let them, so it's believable that some ottomans would've been able to tip the scales.

spoiler i guess: the reveal that the turks in the game were importing coffee *and* evil ancient texts in an attempt to destabilize the region is very inspired. like, even without the supernatural being present, this would've been believable.

in felvidek, this happens through two equally sinister means: coffee and black magic. and at times, black magic infused coffee.

as far as the game hints, the ottoman empire is sort of ever-present. it's a sort of disquiet and unease. it represents an existential threat, the same one of west vs east that persists to this day and age.

the meat of this game is that it finds itself in the 1400s in slovakia. i've learned of the history of this region only through the lens of turkish high schools, so it's always interesting to see a glimpse of how europeans recall the events of the century

Saga, in their Adepta Sororitas era @sagathebossmaker.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
the gameplay is quite straightforward. turn-based combat, managing your healing potions your mana. early combat starts off challenging, but once you acquire correct great, stat checks and damage checks no longer become a concern. this is great as it allows us to focus on the real meat of this game

and there also is matej who can't help but remind me of kim kitsuragi, even if that is not what was intended by the authors of this game. but as we all know, roland barthes killed all authors in 1967, so we need not worry ourselves with their opinion.

that pavol is also on detective duty, despite being a knight, who, i assume, wouldn't really have had such assignments, yet here we find ourselves, is another hint at the homage taking place.

Saga, in their Adepta Sororitas era @sagathebossmaker.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
the protagonist is a believable weirdo, definitely not a nice guy, but neither was mr. harry dubois and i definitely think pavol is to some extent an homage to our detective guy

herein, i note my thoughts on felvidek a 2024 game about the 1400s featuring a drunk knight investigating a mystery. it takes place in slovakia and features at least 1 ottoman turk. i guess spoiler warning?

why is she looking like jimothy the raccoon tho
tall taylor swift and short sabrina carpenter are seen together in photo. sabrina is wearing a jacket that looks oversized on her, so it looks like she barely has a torso. hence the comparison to jimothy the raccoon

this year i've really truly realized that the job system in final fantasy really actually works in real life, you just gotta start collecting all those job stones. you don't have to max your level in all of them, but it's fun to be able to do different things at will

microsoft is in full damage control mode following last week's layoffs. its main strategy so far? namedrop sequels to popular series at every turn. but despite what execs like asha sharma might want you to think, those series were made by people, and now they'll never be the same
Todd Howard just shared plans for the Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Starfield franchises. These worlds have earned a special place with hundreds of millions of people over many years. I'm looking forward to what's next, including the partnership with Obsidian on a new Fallout game and closer collaboration with ZeniMax Online Studios on The Elder Scrolls. The achievements of these franchises are remarkable: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has crossed 65 million units sold, becoming one of the 10 best-selling games of all time, Fallout 4 has also crossed 35 million units sold, joining the top 25, and Starfield will soon reach over 1 billion hours played.
This statement sucks so bad that it makes my blood boil. Look what the franchises did, all by themselves! Look what they’ve accomplished, of their own volition, thanks to their own intrinsic goodness! So many big numbers, which translate to giant heaps of cash in the bank accounts of execs and shareholders! Never mind the people who spent decades painstakingly crafting the many games, stories, and other creative endeavors that corporate ghouls now so happily flatten into “franchises,” erasing themes, meaning, and human beings in favor of empty iconography.

This is how the people running the show at Xbox—and countless companies besides—view games, not to mention everything else in their robotic, colorless lives. Numbers and lines trending ever upward. Fuel for platitudes and faux-inspirational nonsense directed at the LinkedIn hivemind, of which they all paradoxically believe they’re the main character. Another stepping stone toward the next bigger, better thing. No ultimate destination, no camaraderie, no soul. Just an endless ladder that leads to the void regardless of which way you climb.
