“Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I'll try again tomorrow.” - Mary Anne Radmacher Give yourself a little grace today. You're doing great.

A healthy relationship leaves room for friends, family, privacy, interests, & a life of your own. If you have noticed your world getting smaller, you don't have to immediately decide what it means. Start by recognizing the pattern. safeescape.org/isolation/ #CoerciveControl #abuse #relationships

There's red flags in relationships, but what about the green flags? Green flags are the signs of a healthy, supportive relationship. What are yours?

When was the last time you checked your social media privacy settings? Have you ever? Sometimes privacy settings can change, potentially exposing your private information in ways you don't expect. Periodically review your settings and make sure only people you trust know what you're up to.

You are not weak because someone hurt you. You are not foolish because you hoped things would get better. You are not broken because survival changed you. You are still here. That matters.

You don't need to have all the answers today. You just need the next safest step. And sometimes that step is simply telling one safe person, “I need help.”

On this day in 1969, humanity reached new heights when we walked on the moon. Engineers, astronauts, and countless others overcame challenges and adversity to accomplish what we once thought was impossible. It's amazing what we can accomplish when we work together. This post isn't about the moon.

Give yourself the same patience you give tacos. When tacos fall apart, we pick up the pieces and they're still delicious. When you fall apart, you're still amazing, too. Happy #tacotuesday

Of course- privacy matters.
"thinking about how the Dutch police arrrested a bird for taking part in a robbery, put it in a jail cell with bread and water, and when the media reported on it they put a little black bar over the face to protect its identity"

Most people know about fight or flight responses, but did you know fawn and freeze are also responses to stressful, traumatic, or frightening events? Understanding your own reactions can help make sense of your feelings when something happens around you.

Do any of these look familiar? Abuse isn't always physical and doesn't always leave bruises. By understanding how abusers try to maintain power and control, you can see the signs before they escalate. Your safety matters.

Fun fact, before Operation Safe Escape shifted it's mission to focus entirely on helping survivors of intimate partner violence, stalking and harassment, and trafficking, we were an educational org called OSPA, focusing on Operations Security (OPSEC) going back to 2004. This image is from one of our
Conference booth with a purple dragon logo that says OSPA

Today, we like to reflect on the things we're thankful for. We're thankful for the amazing people that trust us to help them stay safe. We're thankful for the heroes that volunteer their time to make it all possible. We're thankful for the support of people like you. Happy Thanksgiving.

This is what love looks like. Your partner should always make you feel loved, respected, and safe.
Picture of a woman curled up on a man's lap. Tweet text says "My parents have been married for 34 years. My mom is in the final stages of young onset dementia (diagnosed 5 years ago at 53). My dad cares for her full-time. She doesn't always remember his name but she knows she is safe with him. If that's not true love, I don't know what is"

We're excited to announce Alyssa Miller as the ProtectCon 2025 keynote speaker. Her experiences and insights will make a major difference to the domestic violence advocates and allies in the audience. Learn more at protectcon.org
"Keynote speaker Alyssa Miller: Hacker, Researcher, Security Advocate." She's looking over to the right with one of those mics that run along your jawline. Maybe it's called a jawline mic? Something like that. She looks a bit resolute, like she's either waiting for the next slide to pop up or she's seen a mortal enemy and she ain't scared. Probably the first one, that would explain the mic. But sometimes people wear mics as a fashion accessory- definitely a conversation starter. If it's the second one, probably shouldn't ask any questions. Anyway, Alyssa Miller, Keynote.

We just heard about this thing called "clickbait" and apparently it's all the rage. So we figured we'd give it a shot. Anyway, just a reminder that there's only a few hours left to make a tax-deductible donation to Operation Safe Escape in 2024! Donate here (please): safeescape.org/help/donate
