Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 13/10/2026I expect to see him on a lot more discussion progs, especially on the BBC, not for his “sensible” views but to comply with their policy for balance. They’ll get dozens of Rejoin MPs and very few Stay Outers, so he’s going to be in demand! 040
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Jonathan Hinder on Newsnight telling us why it was a good idea to leave the EU and why it wouldn’t be a good idea to rejoin. None of it made any sense to me but Frazier Nelson was nodding along sagely as was Nick Watt, for “balance”. Burnham needs to take him to one side and “mark his card”. 5162
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 09/10/2026The next time you hear someone say that we need to get out of the ECHR, you could perhaps point them to this. 181
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 04/10/2026What with all the cuts to social services, pensions and benefits, it’s hard to believe the UK is still the 5th biggest economy in the world. So why are so many of us are skint? Answer- because the rich have the biggest slice of the pie. They continue to get richer whilst the rest get poorer. Simple. 271
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 02/10/2026If it’s in the manifesto and people vote for it, that’s a pretty good referendum in my view and it’s definitely cheaper! 230
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 20/09/2026We’re staying in Bonito, Brazil. We left the hotel to find a restaurant. On the busy road, a lady pulled up and asked if we needed help. She offered to take us to a restaurant. We had a great meal and a perfect evening. What a fantastic country and fantastic friendly people. Obligada. 071
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 15/09/2026I have the camera. A Canon R7 and a 100-500 lens. Now looking at either the Canon 100mm or anew iPhone 18 pro. 000
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Look in the Labour Party Manifesto. Here you will see the party’s commitment to Lords Reform. It’s one of the objectives proposed and ratified by the party at a number of forums. Andy Burnham is now tasked with taking it through. 100
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Well it’s unlikely that they will have rolled up a trouser leg and sworn some kind of secret oath to vote for something that would eventually replace them but by and large, Labour need Lords reformists and they will either be appointed directly or come from a coalition. It’s a multi-stage project. 100
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Of course it is. That was his pledge. Persons he elevates to the Lords are only appointed on the understanding that they will vote for Lords reform. Labour started by introducing age limitation and attendance assurances. There’s more to come but Labour Lords are outnumbered, hence the appointments. 110
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 14/09/2026I could trade in my iPhone for a new iPhone Pro 18 (which by all accounts has a pretty decent macro lens) and pay about £750 extra or I could buy a new Canon RF 100mm F2.8L MACRO IS USM lens for £1,115. It’s a no brainer, isn’t it? 130
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Which part is troubling you? I’ll try to help. 100
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Typical Spectator bollox. Stop lying. He promised to reform the Lords and he started to do it but he can’t do it all until he appoints more Labour Lords who will vote for the reforms. It’s just counting. Unfortunate but necessary. 450
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 08/09/2026Why can’t we have school calendars that align across the country. Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Simply traveling en masse while wearing black clothes and balaclavas to Dover does not, by itself, constitute a criminal offence under UK law. Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 06/09/2026“The jury is out”? What might be a reason for you to consider the arrival of 3-400 masked men of “fighting age” to suddenly appear in a town and start to intimidate the locals to be reasonable and acceptable? 100
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 06/09/2026The irony is, they blocked the port and prevented people leaving the country! 171
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Consider the millions of pounds Farage has amassed simply by being the leader of a political party for 25 years. He has had virtually no responsibility. If he ever did become PM he would have to work and be accountable. Two things he’s not familiar with. I doubt he even really wants the job. 4322
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 06/09/2026I’m surprised they managed to get there. The motorways are usually blocked, not by protesters but by a broken down car or an accident. Without a hard shoulder, not even the police can get through. Who ever agreed to removing the hard shoulder should be in jail. 120
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 06/09/2026The pool might be small, say 500 or so but it’s easy to put out a call and get a mob to any destination tout suites. Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 05/09/2026I’m sure it’s just a strange coincidence that Dover has been awash with right wing hooded youths protesting about immigration today and nothing at all to do with the allegations surrounding Farage and the alleged illegal donation story. 2121

Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 04/09/2026It’s also completely true and we saw that with the Cambridge Analytica debacle. The Electoral Commission is a Civil Regulator, Not a Law Enforcement Agency and as such has effectively no authority or power to do very much at all. Andy Burnham needs to look at it. 1102
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 03/09/2026Sir Ian MacGregor was appointed Chairman of the British Steel Corporation where he slashed the workforce by roughly half. Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 03/09/2026But it’s the council house sell off that she will be remembered for. It did provide a short term benefit for some like my parents but when the houses went, so too did rent controls and security of tenure. Add a failure to replace them with more affordable homes and you get to where we are today. 2160

Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Remember when BP meant British Petroleum and British Airways meant, well, British Airways. Thatcher sold ‘em! Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Thatcher didn’t close the mines because she was interested in anyone’s health. She took the free milk away from our kids and implemented charges for eye tests, dental treatment and NHS prescriptions. She could have phased out coal reliance and preserved jobs like we are now doing with fossil fuels. 120
Saddletramp🇪🇺 @saddletramp.bsky.social · 02/09/2026When I was a lad we mined coal. Coal was used in our blast furnaces to make steel. Steel was used in construction and the car industry and to make ships and all that meant jobs. Thatcher shut it all down. Then she sold off all the water, gas, electricity and much of our transport. Just saying. 9488
