We’re staying in Bonito, Brazil. We left the hotel to find a restaurant. On the busy road, a lady pulled up and asked if we needed help. She offered to take us to a restaurant. We had a great meal and a perfect evening. What a fantastic country and fantastic friendly people. Obligada.

I could trade in my iPhone for a new iPhone Pro 18 (which by all accounts has a pretty decent macro lens) and pay about £750 extra or I could buy a new Canon RF 100mm F2.8L MACRO IS USM lens for £1,115. It’s a no brainer, isn’t it?

Why can’t we have school calendars that align across the country. My grandchildren are all going back to school or starting school on different days to their siblings, even at the same school! How are parents expected to cope with fitting in a job and child care?

Simply traveling en masse while wearing black clothes and balaclavas to Dover does not, by itself, constitute a criminal offence under UK law. Stopping traffic and intimidating the public does so what should the police have done that wouldn’t have resulted in an escalation of violence and disorder?

Consider the millions of pounds Farage has amassed simply by being the leader of a political party for 25 years. He has had virtually no responsibility. If he ever did become PM he would have to work and be accountable. Two things he’s not familiar with. I doubt he even really wants the job.

I’m sure it’s just a strange coincidence that Dover has been awash with right wing hooded youths protesting about immigration today and nothing at all to do with the allegations surrounding Farage and the alleged illegal donation story.

Remember when BP meant British Petroleum and British Airways meant, well, British Airways. Thatcher sold ‘em! That triggered the sale of British Telecom, British Gas and even Rolls Royce! They then sold the rights to extract Gas and Oil from the North Sea which is why we can now only tax it.

When I was a lad we mined coal. Coal was used in our blast furnaces to make steel. Steel was used in construction and the car industry and to make ships and all that meant jobs. Thatcher shut it all down. Then she sold off all the water, gas, electricity and much of our transport. Just saying.

We left the EU 10 years ago. What benefits did we really get? Sovereignty? What’s that? Had we known then that on average every household would lose between £5000 to £12,000 in income, would we still think it was worth it?

If a homeless, unemployed addict has been released early from prison without support, a house or prospect of employment, don’t be surprised if that person is back behind bars and in the comfort of his cell within a few weeks. Less than that when winter comes. We haven’t thought this through have we!

I’m hearing that US citizens buying goods from Temu, Ali Express etc are now paying between $130 and $160 for a package that previously would have cost $100 thanks to Trump’s imposed tariffs. Is this so?

I posted earlier, a large moth that attacked me in France. Here it is on my finger. Paysandisia archon. It’s an invader from Argentina but spreading throughout Europe. Lots of references to it on the web but none about it’s aggressive territorial behaviour that I can see. Thanks for all the replies

I was staying in a cottage in France, Languedoc region a few years ago and every time I walked up the path I was “attacked” by a huge flying moth like creature that made an incredible clattering sound. It never actually touched me but it deliberately tried to shoo me away. What was it?

To park a car anywhere in a high street near me is around £4.00 per hour. A bit of shopping and a coffee might be say £10.00. No wonder many of us now shop mostly on line and the shops are closing. Soon, only services that Amazon can’t provide will be left. What’s the answer?

It’s become increasingly common for high-profile figures in Reform to feature heavily in the media despite not holding a seat in the House of Commons. Zia Yusaf, Tim Montgomerie, Matt Goodwin, Calvin Robinson, Laila Cunningham are not MPs, despite talking and acting as if they are.

Anyone else noticing settlement cracks around the house? I’ve noticed some have appeared in the kitchen tiles. Not serious but i’m guessing related to the ground drying out. We’ve also got cracks in the lawn that a small child could fall into!

When asked about Farage’s £5m, Reformers shrug their shoulders and say. “Well they’re all at it aren’t they. They’re all the same”. It’s a sort of benign acceptance, simply because there’s nothing else. Ask a Trump voter about his corruption though & they whoop and yelp like he’s God. Very strange?

Last night’s by-election cost the tax payer £250,000 and the next one is likely to be about the same. The vote went as expected and the next one is again, certain to see him returned, so half a million just to massage Farage’s ego. He has no shame.

Clacton has now given us two observations of Farage’s personal vote: * July 2024: 21,225 votes, 46.2%, on 58.7% turnout. * August 2026: 22,239 votes, 63.34%, on 44.4% turnout. So Farage has actually increased his absolute vote by 1,014, despite the much lower turnout.

Reform UKs plan to use the Royal Navy to intercept migrant boats in the Channel brilliantly taken apart by ... er ... Nigel Farage
The new Royal Navy presence in the Channel off to
a terrible start...

The gunwhales on the vessels are too high to pick
up migrants, so the RNLI & Border Force are doing
the job instead!

The Navy are then going around picking up the
empty dinghies,

Waste of time and resources!

Farage isn't campaigning for a GE next month. He’s playing the long game. A splashy headline during a quiet news month generates free publicity, rallies his core voter base, shifts media attention away from his party's bad press and ensures that immigration remains the headline topic on his terms.

The Farage Fan Club has been programmed to say, “well they all do that don’t they” when asked about the £5m “gift”. It’s like Trump and his claim that he could shoot someone dead or grab women’s privates, and they will still vote for him. And they will. It’s like they’ve been hypnotised!

Under standard UK political betting rules, ante-post bets placed on a party that ultimately chooses not to field a candidate are typically settled as losers (or "all in, run or not"), unless the bookmaker explicitly offers "non-runner, no bet" terms. (I don’t understand it either!)
