This is now the second voting cycle for Sacnurse and me since we became citizens. IOW, we're still new at this. How do you all decide who to vote for on down-ticket races? I'm pretty party-centric for federal and major state races. But others? How do I get past their propaganda?

My experience as a former pastor/christian of many decades is that christians often criticize books they have never read. America has an abysmal literacy rate. According to data breakdowns from groups like the National Literacy Institute, about 21% of U.S. adults are functionally illiterate,

Wait a second...I thought Ronald Reagan already launched our Star Wars Defense System? I remember...that was a hoax designed to discourage the Russians from fighting the cold war any more. I wonder why the military would make this announcement? Same reason?

IFS Teaching Moment. In internal family systems, we believe the mind has many parts that exist as neural networks from the time of birth. We assign these parts tasks. One task is to protect us. One of these managers is called a Numbing Part. It has several very important roles to play. 1/2

Always remember that "heck" is a portmanteau of "hell" and "fuck" and that christians created it so they could feel better about being heckishly pissed off and could still feel superior to everyone else. To heck with them.

Unless Capitalists believe they can make money on something, they consider it a waste of effort. Case in point: William Gladstone, British Chancellor of the Exchequer and future PM, questioned Michael Faraday on why he should care about electricity. Faraday said: “One day sir, you can tax it.”

Watching “Death of the Pastor’s Wife” is so cringeable for me personally. As a former preacher: His preaching is purely awful! It’s the typical “Youth pastor turned Senior Pastor best buddy condescension” drivel. As a therapist: how can Evangelicals not see what damage sexual repression causes?

Lust. Let's stop using this word. It's a pejorative term used to control others by shaming them for having sexual desires. It's often a patriarchal term because it is used to blame women some men want to have sex with. Sexual desire is not sin. Sexual desire is hard-wired into you. Stop shaming.
