Two wooden restroom stalls, made to look like stables with horseshoe handles, a light colored sign marked "southerners only" and a black colored sign marked "northerners only" sit side by side, an image from Aisha Harris's "Springtime for the Confederacy" article.

Relating to the google enshitification post below back when I did the bulk of my blogging 2007-2013 I ran it as an #ad-freeblog with the owl logo as a small note of refusing commercialization The page it once linked, explaining. is now naturally advertising I still hold the values, the net doesn't
A small sleepy owl proclaims in a text ballon "Ad-Free Blog" in a cartoonish style.

For those boycotting meta products this week, quoting a little from Chuck Tyler's 4/30 1:12pm post over on FB: "... practice discipline, and activate P.A.C.E. COMMS—Primary, Alternative, Contingency, Emergency—so we’re never dependent on a single platform to stay connected, informed, or mobilized"
Text and four color bars. Header reads "P.A.C.E. Comms"

Blue bar with "Primary" and a graphic of a cell phone

Green Bar with "Alternative" and a graphic of a handheld radio

Yellow Bar with "Contingency" and a graphic of a landline phone handset

Red Bar with "Emergency" and a graphic of a bullhorn with 'sound' lines projecting forth.

Today I've been tracking the "Democratic Governors’ Statement in Support of Ukraine" and other individual statements by other Governors. (See links below). I'm coming out to 19 states so far. This is what resistance for Russian capitulation remains at the Governors level. See my links below.
A map of the united states with Washington, Maine, New Mexico, Kansas. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Kentucky, North Carolina, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts in dark blue, Colorado in light blue, and Vermont in Red. All the other states are a pale greyish blue or "null."

I also strongly urge folks to go across to the Maryland Attorney General's various pages and see some of what was posted today. Maryland is among the states taking point and protecting its people. "Make no mistake: this Executive Order threatens people’s lives." There are a number of pieces.
Seal of the Maryland Attorney General's office above a text block that reads:

"Attorney General Brown's Statement on President Trump’s executive order on transgender rights.
//
Yesterday President Trump signed an executive order declaring that the United States only recognizes two sexes and rejects a person’s gender identity. This is a decision that ignores the humanity and reality of transgender Americans across our State and nation.
The president’s mandate limits federal funding for transition health services and requires federal prisons and shelters to segregate incarcerated people, sexual assault survivors, and migrants by their sex, not their gender identities.
Make no mistake: this Executive Order threatens people’s lives.
The Maryland Office of the Attorney General will protect all Marylanders – especially members of marginalized communities - and wants transgender residents of our State to know that they belong, they matter, and our Office will fight for their rights and safety."

You personally are going to have to make decisions, will you acquiesce, or will you take the risks? For all our sakes, protect, prevent, and provide whatever you can, wherever you can. As my partner and I have written for decades now, "Never surrender, never submit! 4/4
"Never Surrender, Never Submit!" A red prohibition sign/"no" symbol, the red circle with an upper left to lower right red bar across a literal white flag of surrender.

On facebook, the Howard County Maryland Health Department posted about mask "recommendations" with the image below. I commented- "A surgical mask is woefully inadequate, they're for droplets. Not the right tool for the task. This should be an N95 for aerosols." (See post below) 1/
A blue paper surgical mask with white earloops sitting on a bamboo or wooden backdrop. It has "Howard County Health Department" printed on the lower lefthand corner in small black text, along with an "HC" logo with two wheat stalks, a county symbol.
