oh you're gonna go buckwild for the mounted replacement then... when I have time to paint it

🐳ryuuka @ryuuka.bsky.social · 05/07/2026

okay so I didn't get enough painting done on Wednesday to have anything to show, BUT ! with the power of watching the lord of the rings then and today ! I've finished a block of Skeleton Warriors for old world battlemarch! GO, MY SKELETONS. GET THEY ASS.

ough tomorrows a stat holiday and I declined working on it I wonder if I'll get any painting done

🐳ryuuka @ryuuka.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

but in purely casual play, its easy to look at exploitable rules like that and say 'that sounds miserable, we're not playing that way'

110

🐳ryuuka @ryuuka.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

yeah, I've only played super casually so I haven't experienced it firsthand but I've heard the worst offender was ork biker boyz - giving each one a different 5pt equipment piece meant that you couldn't allocate a second wound to any one of them until every model had taken it's first wound, etc.

110

🐳ryuuka @ryuuka.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

as far as I'm aware its basically 4th 2, just with the xenos getting actual flavour and personality to their codexes unfortunately its got some pain points in vehicles being too hard to damage and wound allocation being way too easy to exploit to make unkillable bricks

110

🐳ryuuka @ryuuka.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

if you'd said 5th instead of 7th I'd be ready to bark like a dog on comnand

110

🐳ryuuka @ryuuka.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

thank you !!! they've been sitting on my painting desk for WEEKS just begging for me to find the time to finish them and I'm so so proud of how they've come out. I tried a 'simplified' look on them of only picking out a few details from the base coat and I think it really makes them pop ! :>

🐳ryuuka @ryuuka.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

finally found time today to paint up my Tau Broadside ! she's fucking gorgeous. while I was at it I also finished up the bases for my killteam stealth suits, and I'm thinking I may go back later and put basing over the clear flight bases because a bit of primer hit them and it looks bad

🐳ryuuka @ryuuka.bsky.social · 28/06/2026

one of these days eventually I wanna find some girlies I get on well with, all dress up SUPER nice for a daylong tea party kinda deal, and have a table set up at the party for us to take turns 2 at a time playing a skirmish game that resolves within an hour so there's time for everyone to get a game

120

🐳ryuuka @ryuuka.bsky.social · 28/06/2026

anyway here's a little test print of a skellington for an old world battlemarch tomb kings list isn't she just so charming?

the server was originally made for me doing twitchstreaming, so there's some relics of that there, but since I've given up on streaming due to time its been repurposed

hi I've got this semi-public server I've made for chatting about models and wargaming, if you've found my biskie account you should join it discord.com/invite/2HtTg... the current fascinations are 5th edition Warhammer40k and Old World Battlemarch, but it rotates weekly

i will not stand for "larp" becoming the new "poser". there is nothing in this world that requires more genuine unbridled passion in the face of people calling you a total nerd than live-action roleplay

ah, wifey and I normally play skirmish games! our favourites being warcry and shatterpoint. i occasionally get the want to play something with a few more models on the table, but the modern take on wargames just isn't for us. the timing very much is being not happy with 11e though ;p

110

🐳ryuuka @ryuuka.bsky.social · 15/06/2026

there's a few reasons I could list, but its what I started on so I still have a few books for it and theres definitely a bit of a rose tinted glasses situation, but its generally pretty well beloved! it has its pain points but the rules have so much more flavour and overall its much smoother to play

110

🐳ryuuka @ryuuka.bsky.social · 14/06/2026

so like. ive been keeping up with the rules for 11th edition #warhammer40k as theyve released and ive come to a decision; im teaching my wife to play 5th edition.

me too, man. ive been pretty much constantly sick in some way since december....

🐳ryuuka @ryuuka.bsky.social · 30/03/2026

I know this because of warcry. warcry has had me spend SO long staring at every single deepkin model, considering how best to mesh them to really make those fishes pop off

010

🐳ryuuka @ryuuka.bsky.social · 30/03/2026

very very funny to me that someone can post a golden demon finalist space wolf model in discord and I, who has never played or even wanted to play age of sigmar, immediately said "thats the fish off one of the isharann mages"

a miniature of a guy in hulking armour with an axe, standing atop an ice floe. underneath the ice is visible via cross section, and there is a fish. the fish is a part of the isharann soulrender miniature from the warhammer age of sigmar line.

the grenade launcher shenanigans though. i'll give you that one, that was outright disrespectful.

yknow, after how brutal what she did to that poor death commando was, i think the flamethrower bullying was justified.

🐳ryuuka @ryuuka.bsky.social · 20/03/2026

ive only played one game and I'm not Too Confident in my list building here but I've assembled a couple combos that I think look mean on paper, I'd love to hear input on them!

not sure how it happened but I've been roped into being interested in Trench Crusade again so I've dug out my New Antioch Knights from like a year ago and actually made a warband of em, then I've also gone and printed some new Heretic Naval Raiders

I wish it was more socially acceptable to wear something covering your face in public I often just don't want to have to worry about what my facial expression is or if I'm baking the right amount of eye contact... I wish i could wear a heavily tinted motorcycle helmet every time I left the house

behold; my first Beetleback Warlord of Legio Astorum I haven't started on her weapons at all, but the starting loadout I'll be painting (which is on her now) is Eclipse-pattern for 630BR; the loadout that the core book suggests for a 1v1 tutorial game

a 3 inch tall mech model for Adeptus Titanicus painted in blue, silver, and gold. The model's weapons are unpainted black plastic.
