This resolution is a momentous step forward for legal recognition and reparations for those who have suffered the enduring harms of chattel enslavement. Europe, those responsible, abstained. And only 3 countries voted against: USA, Israel and Argentina. But the majority of the world supports it.

In June 2023, #Nahel was shot at short range by a police officer in France. Today, the prosecutor requests a trial for murder. The death of the French-Algerian teenager triggered massive protests & unrests against longstanding racist policing. This was met with heavy repression by the authorities.

Can't wait to see European States (especially Germany) contortionism about the ICC warrants. International law mechanisms are probably not providing justice to Palestinian people as it should but it has the merits to put Western countries in front of their deep deep hypocrisy.
