iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

i guess this is where it helps that i'm a fucking second generation techbro because my dad actually was there while all of this shit was taking form and so i know the context of how this stuff took shape much more than your average ~30 year old

im glad i finally 100% stopped caring about gender perceptions since im apparently going to be 'clockable' to people no matter what i do even if their interpretation is wildly off base

CrispyRowe's comment on "Why do you NOT use IPv6?"

www.reddit.com/r/homelab/co... i love it when people try to say that ipv6 is badly designed when they actually just have a severe misunderstanding of how it should be used. this is what ULAs are for. you give your interfaces more than one IP. stays the same if you lift and shift. not that deep

the thing about weird libertarian dudes is that they have opinions you can't imagine if you tried (like half of the older guys i know can probably be best described as weird libertarians)

i think in general most people who do programming/development on-top of any large system like linux would do well to write less code and read more code, because if you read more code you can know what the code does and what it's suited to and capable of which lets you write less code

hooooooo boy i just saw my first case where i saw some code that is likely generated by an LLM that is seemingly heavily plagiarizing some code in the linux kernel, or at the very least plagiarizing its approach. and the worst part is that the code does the SAME SHIT in like 3x the amount of code

do the analog triggers in modern console controllers actually get used for anything on a reliable basis or is it just everyone copying each others' work
