hi film nerds 🎞️ Wanted to try 6x9 more seriously so I bought the heaviest camera I could find: Mamiya Press Super 23. Shot one roll and I think I'm sold. Here's my doggo on Tri-X 400 (dev'd HC-110) in our just-getting-started local darkroom. On the plus side, I won't need to lift weights anymore

Here's what I get from the data @dhmontgomery.com posted, plotting top 1% and bottom 90% (ignoring 90-99%). The original graph only plotted every five years, and smoothed between those -- pretty lame since the Fed reports quarterly. For Q3-Q4 2025, the top 1% and the bottom 90% were tied at 31.8%.

on the laptop/game front, I think the best approach is to hack together something from a Raspberry Pi and a decent display. The Sharp Memory-in-Pixel displays have stunningly low power requirements, but 2.7" is the largest that's made :-( Lots of inspiration if you google "cyberdeck"

Not true; they have zero conceptual frame, only local linguistic facility. If AI *understood*, it would know that a human has five distinct fingers, instead of arbitrary fingerlike glop. The number of "r"s in "strawberry" would be easy. But no; an LLM is just autocomplete with a trillion parameters.
