Mike @rydmike.com · 07/07/2026Still on X/Twitter, but Flutter scene is pretty lame there nowadays too, mostly I'm now there for quick AI news. Not posting much Flutter anymore myself either, seems like few are. Occasionally I still post and comment about Flutter, but been very busy building at work. 020
Mike @rydmike.com · 05/07/2026Good to know, thx! And oops seems like I have not opened this app in a while. Totally their fault for not having an iPad app 🤷♂️😇 130
Mike @rydmike.com · 21/04/2026Yes similar to that one, but the exact model I like the best is no longer available. I would have ordered a few more if it was. Had to get some other models that were not as good, plus I wanted them all to be the same so it would look consistent 🫣😅 030

Mike @rydmike.com · 13/12/2025Having a default adaptive platform response on #FlutterDev MaterialApp that only uses ink on Android would be nice, and then an ink that is more like TappableOpacity on other platforms. It would remove a friction point with Material in Flutter. You can do it yourself already though 🙂💙 330
Mike @rydmike.com · 13/12/2025Still, even if the overlay colors are not 100%, just an ink factory MaterialApp defaults to on Apple devices, and why not Windows and Linux too, that mimics typical tap/hold, instant opacity overlays effect would be much better. Imo, by default, ink should only be on Android. 3/3 🙂💙 020
Mike @rydmike.com · 13/12/2025would need to set the ThemeData splash, highlight, focus, focus colors and also all the WidgetState overlay colors in all components defaults that don’t use these colors from ThemeData as fallback anymore in M3. Very tedious to do, I do it. Maybe just document right opacities is enough. 2/3 120
Mike @rydmike.com · 13/12/2025That would be a nice addition to built-in platform adaptive behaviour in the default MaterialApp theme. Maybe not the no splash factory though (has visual issues), a new one that mimics iOS tap opacity highlights as close as possible would be awesome. For an exact match, it … 1/3 120
Mike @rydmike.com · 11/12/2025Yes there is and that is cool. I gave a 30min talk about the decoupling of Material and Cupertino from Flutter SDK at Flutter meetup in Helsinki this Tuesday. Just a small local meetup, about 53 attendees. Nice event hosted by Elisa corp, @alesalv.bsky.social was one of the organizers. 120
Mike @rydmike.com · 11/12/2025I saw a few devs mentioning that #FlutterDev apps on iPhones typically have a give away because they use "MaterialApp" and ink splashes show up on iPhones. You can fix this in ThemeData, it can even be platform adaptive so you still have ink on Android, but not on iPhone! Imagine that😃💙 3162

Mike @rydmike.com · 08/11/2025Honestly it has been so long and still nothing. Had they made this app in Flutter it would have been so simple. Although I assume it is so in RN too, so it feels really lazy 🦥 010

Mike @rydmike.com · 28/03/2025Theming #GoogleDesign #Material3 Chips in #FlutterDev is quite limited, I would even call it broken, as is theming of many other M3 components that have variant styles. Read more about these #Flutter issues here: 🙂💙 github.com/flutter/flut... 193

Mike @rydmike.com · 11/03/2025That is not an iPad or Android tablet app... call me when there is one 😅 140
Mike @rydmike.com · 10/03/2025Everything is just shifted down one step below 1.0.0 and pub import resolution uses that as well. Kind of logically consistent, but not same as original Semver contract, where anything goes while below 1.0.0 dart.dev/tools/pub/ve... 000
Mike @rydmike.com · 09/03/2025Yes it would help, and has been discussed as well. I think there is an issue for it, I might remember that wrong, discussion could have been elsewhere too. Apparently quite hard to implement or not a focus topic atm at least 120
Mike @rydmike.com · 09/03/2025Pub also have semver rules for 0-ver in how it handles 0-ver compatible imports, mentioned in a short btw thing in docs, few knows about it and follows it. Basically everything is shifted down one step. 110
Mike @rydmike.com · 09/03/2025Publishers should follow semver contract, sure mistakes can happen too, but here it is known API has breaking changes, so it is ver 2.0.0 bsky.app/profile/rydm... 000
Mike @rydmike.com · 09/03/2025Yes, this breaks semver contract and the way pubspec handles compatible import ranges 220
Mike @rydmike.com · 09/03/2025Of course getting familiar with semver can take some reading and mistakes happens if you are not aware of it fully dart.dev/tools/pub/ve... and semver.org. One can retract a version that has incorrect semver contract and release it again with corrected version nr💙🙏dart.devPackage versioningHow Dart's package management tool, pub, handles versioning of packages. 100
Mike @rydmike.com · 09/03/2025If you release pub.dev Dart or #FlutterDev packages, never do this. Please make sure you follow semver (if zero ver, also follow pubs special 0-ver rules). This release is effectively 2.0.0, if we do this intentionally, all we have is anarchy on pub 🙂🙏💙 sorry my friend, but this is not ok 💙 3130

Mike @rydmike.com · 02/03/2025Safari does not yet support WebGPU fully, it bugs and paints glitches. It also does not support Wasm GC, so no Flutter Wasm GC builds. But tech preview of Safari does support all this, so hopefully coming soon. 110
Mike @rydmike.com · 02/03/2025Sad, but true. Total mad house show over there now, it also seems looking at it from here, like all the sane people, that there are a lot of, hopefully even more, are powerless to do anything about it. 020
