Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Honestly the best feeling in the world is when someone discovers my Bandcamp with emo music and they follow me and I check who they are following, and its artists I look up to. It feels like more are paying attention to sixth-wave emo cause my niche albums have been getting a lot more listeners 001
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Rosette is finally stable enough to get me here and beyond #halo #mac #halo3 100
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 22/09/2026I really need to go on a quest of finding new anime faves better than these but I think it'll be impossible because the bar is too fucking high. Aaaaaa these are held so dearly to me 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Took about 2 months just to support all the Xbox 360 bullshit, but alas, Rosette finally is able to support much of what was needed. A custom JIT backend was required, x86 needed some special compilation guidelines, special Win32 .dll behavior warranted packages. All required to pull this off!!! 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Fuck there was such a cute trans girl who asked me for directions and I'm a dumbass for not being like, "Hiiiiiiiii what's ur socials" so its clearly evidence of how much of a sub I am cause I just geeked tf out for like 5 minutes over the interaction. I hope I see her more this semesterrrrr 010
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 17/09/2026After 2 months of trying to figure out how to fix a bunch of Xenia issues with rendering, I have finally, a corrupted, but visible, frame. Fixing all these issues should be easier than the hell it took to get here. 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Through making Xenia work with none of my own code edits for macOS, I have found the sea of failing culprits that cause all problems. So now Rosette is getting a DLL package section so none of the hidden win32 API calls can subtly influence why graphics won't work Took forever to find this solution 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 08/09/2026Having two different platform versions of Xenia I build is useful for finding missing x86 contexts and finding the remaining missing logic needed. Plus, I want to test Direct9 code and see if I can forward this to Cocoa, see if this can net me better results. 100
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 04/09/2026MAP_JIT is a curse amongst a replacement for sparse memory mappings. It is literally a macOS black box that when it fails, good fucking luck figuring out what the issue is. 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 27/08/2026So I found a critical issue with Xenia that took me forever to find, Xenia is unable to reach its guest front buffer. So basically, you have a bunch of draws that attempt to interact in that way, but nothing gets communicated to front, so swapping between video frames is just not possible 100
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 26/08/2026Sometimes you come across a code issue so severe that it becomes the exact reason why you’ve added so much code. It’s been over 2 weeks on this one issue and I’ve narrowed things down 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 23/08/2026I hit an epiphany that some of the behaviors I handle need to be moved to a package system in which these are compiled behaviors, not, I am having this behavior occur exclusively at runtime. Like there's a huge difference between, "do this if we detect this behavior at run", and assumptions at build 100
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 16/08/2026Yes yes I will be asking for Mononoke Hime 4K as an early "please get it before the holidays gift because I know what happened to the price of Ghost in the Shell 2 4K" 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 14/08/2026Finally I've reached the Halo 3 game loop itself. This will be a great test of how many x86 encodings I have left to handle (even if you define the translations, you still need to detect their encoding). YAY!!!!!! 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 07/08/2026My mom learned of MySpace coming back and is finally learning what mid-2000s scene/alt/emo fashion consists of cause it's taking over more and more of my closet. Anyways looking forward to my rawrz xd era 010
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 04/08/2026It’s really funny how my recent summer class wants to follow me around because apparently there are turing like features that can be implemented to solve bugs like the “tape head” being out of range. Oh cool new thing, I got graphics to barely start for Halo 3 in Rosette, but hey, it’s progress 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 30/07/2026I’m genuinely impressed with how amazing Rosette V0.09 is shaping up to be. The amount of low level custom systems/libraries I needed is (still) painful, like “build a custom decompiler” painful. The entire project barely takes up 30 MB (packaged last at 40 MB) which includes .md files. 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 21/07/2026FINALLY, after about 2 1/2 months of work, Rosette is in a good enough spot to debug my macOS port of Xenia Canary. I’m estimating in about 1-2 months, I’ll have a stable working port This has been a well needed detour, worth every hour spent. 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 19/07/2026The greatest feeling in the world is seeing your code output regress because you were doing something so wrong (but now fixed) that it now exposes all the other issues that need to also be untangled based off of one bad decision. 100
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 12/07/2026 Development progress on Rosette is getting really really far. I am so close to running Xenia Canary with my macOS port, so I can finally finish fixing my macOS port PR to go under 10k lines. x86 to NEON translation with Rosette is insanely good, and it's only gonna get better from here 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 03/07/2026My new framework, Rosette, is coming along amazingly. Over 97 million x86 instructions can execute on macOS via my WIP macOS port of Xenia Canary. AVX/SSE is partially supported on macOS 13. For upcoming Version 0.07, the amount of functionality in this framework is already impressive 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 27/06/2026It's incredible when you stumble upon an entirely new thing you never heard of with low-level code (involving an issue of running code) and so it becomes a, "oh this is really cool to try and fix and learn what defeats it". Anyways now my thing is parsing Mach-O files and handling their Assembly 031
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 22/06/2026Holy fucking shit my transpiler is passing my first test without issue. This is a major breakthrough in the mountain of a project I'm working on: Rosette. Now my transpiler auto-converts shorten64-to-32 cases throughout a repo. These cases only pop up when Windows code implicitly shortens to 32 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 22/06/2026Sometimes it takes awhile to find a good solution for a draft PR. It’s the greatest feeling in the world to get rid of 22k lines of code. I’m on a mission for the most minuscule amount of code possible, since I hate even the idea of adding bloat 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 20/06/2026I think the way I've decided to handle PIDs is awful cause if I feel like it exists on the stack and is polluting my terminal session, the idea is that you take the process, and shove it on a different stack that isn't connected to your terminal session. 100
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 10/06/2026I really think peak euphoria is when someone really cool in the coding world stars your repo on GitHub and you are on the early stages of the project. Like omg thank you for the extra motivation in that now, I am most certainly making this happen 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 08/06/2026Did I spend up til 6 AM bringing over 70 new Assembly instruction (including AVX) to work on Rosette????? Yes. I will not regret, I run on caffeine. 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 08/06/2026My next goal with Rosette is to have 100 x86 Assembly instructions work and convert into NEON and have them be checked via my math system. It also means writing a system to break down 512 bit instructions into 128 bit chunks via my new library idea. 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 07/06/2026It’s almost official, my app Rosette is nearing V0.03, and will be completed by tonight with a .dmg Installer in said release It translates x86 to ARM64 NEON (on macOS), and can launch a few select .exe files, like an x86 win32 Tetris game. 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 03/06/2026It is so much fun to play around with Assembly, Win32 API calls, translating that to macOS. Zig has been amazing at allowing me to do handshakes to all parts of getting x86 Assembly to draw on screen. First, you have to validate canvas size, aspect ratio, all of that, and how that interacts 100
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 30/05/2026My newest project is Assembly heavy, but also, a REALLY cool project done with Zig. This is a language that allows me to abstract with Assembly, and it allows me to do things that would be a nightmare to do in C Aaaaa it’s so exciting!! 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 13/04/2026AAAAAAA JUCE IS NOW AVAILABLE ON ALPINE LINUX NOW!!!!!! YOU CAN THANK UR GIRL FOR MAKING THIS POSSIBLE!!!!! 010
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 11/04/2026@zhayde.bsky.social LOLOLOL MY POST ABOUT YOUR POST GOT LIKE 1.2K UPVOTES SO FAR AND IT HASN'T EVEN BE 24 HOURS 110
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 11/04/2026Oh hey, some sixth wave emo shenanigans finally released!ryanwiseman.bandcamp.comRun Like a Girl, by Ryan Wiseman12 track album 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 03/04/2026One of my newest code projects is doing a minimal WinXP version for ARM64 macOS that doesn’t get built into a .iso file, but runs in a window instead. The “Hello World” standard I’m using for this is being able to launch notepad.exe. All components are open source versions, so it’s been fun 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 30/03/2026WIN32 ROUTING INTO SDL3 ON AN ARM64 MAC IS SO COOL!!!!!!! 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 29/03/2026Creating an app in C++: Pain, hours of trying to figure out how to bundle all the files, turn dynamic links into static ones and deal with error hell. You will cry Creating an app in Python: Lol we made a command for you to do exactly that so you do not need to worry your little head 110
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 14/03/2026I’ve yet to find a single emo song to tickle my brain in the same as much as ‘The Mint That Grows Behind The Dumpster’ allllllll because these varispeed tracked vocals are like crack cocaine 010
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 04/03/2026Oh hey, I finally got a poster of my favorite movie 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 01/03/2026AAAAAAAA THIS FIX HAS HELPED PATCH A GOOD CHUNK OF ISSUES!!!!!!!!! I'M FINALLY ABLE TO SEE THE THINGS THAT ARE WRONG AND WHEN I GO TO FIX THEM THEY GET FIXED!!!!!!!!! Literally this might've been the secret sauce needed to solve 95% of the issues I was dealing with 100
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 01/03/2026So I finally figured out the biggest issue that had me hitting an invisible wall for my macOS port of Xenia Canary, loading user modules, which has FINALLY been done. Basically, my system was requiring this, wouldn't properly load this, and then also was making it impossible to load anything else 100
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 25/02/2026My favorite method to getting components of my port to work is nudging them at first iteration of their appearance, so they wake up accordingly, because otherwise, they become the root problem to all other problems 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 19/02/2026Istg I’m going to be so pissed if this single line of code change at a kernel memory address breaks me out of this bug when I’ve spent 3 days trying to bruteforce my way through 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 15/02/2026So the fun part of writing a Xenia Canary port is I get to create custom libraries to deal with some problems that were never handled on macOS. So when I'm done with this, I'll release them and then embed them as submodules, and hopefully find some people to add as collaborators on this 101
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 13/02/2026My Xenia Canary x86 port for macOS can almost play Geometry Wars Evolved!!! Im SO CLOSE to running my first game. It’s like the Hello World of test games, and I’m about 90% of the way of making it happen Then after, it’ll be testing more demanding games and I’ll be done (at least for now) 000
Ryan Wiseman 🏳️⚧️ @ryanwiseman.bsky.social · 10/02/2026Hot Take: American Idol is one of the most boring shows because all the people that get featured grew up watching American Idol. The diversity of the show is accessible pop country, accessible generic pop, accessible pop R&B. Everyone sounds the same, because the show only cares for this 000
