I've updated this to now include 5 separate probabilistic models that represent some incremental modeling features/ technology over the decades (including citations!). I've also added in ELO ratings so that we can have a timeless perspective of superiority (or otherwise)

I'd like to get into to some of the details on how I productionalized this pipeline since this is one of the areas of #rstats and #datascience that you don't really get formal education on. I have a TrueNAS server that hosts docker containers to handle my infrastructure.

From here, I stepped into doing some monte carlo simulations and got to fiddle with the new {mirai} integrations in {purrr}. cranking out 1M simulations in 15 seconds on my PC is dope. Is 1M the right number of simulations to run? Almost certainly not, but I'm new to this!

Initially, I've just made charts based off of previous year point accumulations and compared our current, depressing, progress #rstats. This was the first discovery of the ASA package and fiddling with the data structures. This package is a godsend due to the garbage data hygiene from the league.

I was originally using a google sheet that a random redditor was maintaining but they've disappeared and the sheet has errors, so I've changed the future fixture calendar to pull from a fotmob api (don't ban me plz), thanks to @tanho.ca. Basing a project off an undocumented api is always scary.
