When you're a nerd who also loves sports, you do nerdy things. here's this year's college football rankings determined by creating a "graph" where every losing team "links" to the team that beat them - and then running Google PageRank over the graph.

Let's talk about the new google query fan out change Old way: Give query to AI. Ask it to generate more queries. New way: Train ML model on hundreds of thousands of queries, Turn original query into vector. Model finds other query vectors near it.

An SEO test with made up keywords can NOT accurately test whether something is a ranking factor. Why? Because other than fastrank (pure BM25 and Cosine Similarity) almost every other Google system compares your document to the entire corpus. When you make up a term, there's no corpus to compare.

Trump economy is so bad MAGA had to resort to "renting the libs" because they can no longer afford to own.

LLMs.txt and Markdown files are the new META keywords. I'm shocked most of you aren't still putting "Britney Spears" in there like every car dealer used to back in the day.

what's smarter? Creating a duplicate version of your site for specific agents that you have to maintain separatly, keep in sync, and ensure search engines don't send users to? or just making your site render better, prerender, or cache?

Ryan Jones @ryanjones.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
I'm seeing so much weirdness with markdown files. You don't want to put a copy of your actual site in markdown in your sitemaps. bad idea. Search engines will index both. do you want that served to users? Most people are way over-thinking this. You don't even need a markdown version.

If I had to greatly over-simplify the Google aglorithm it would be: - get top1k sites ordered by BM25 and top passage Cossim. - feed that data plus authority and quality data into ML model. Take top 100 - get navbooost clicks, limit to top XX - feed all that into final re-ranker.

The biggest mental model mistake SEOs make with Google is thinking that ranking is a score that adds up. It's not. It's a series of culls, based on different scores, until you're left with the "10 blue links."

Ryan Jones @ryanjones.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
The first step of any Google search is 2 parallel passes. Pass 1 is literally BM25 + Q* where Q* is a combined signal including spam scores, click data, navigational searches, and pagerank. The other pass is dense semantic vector retrieval. Semantic relevance. Not in these? good luck ranking.

Betting sites have AOC as the dem presidential frontrunner. I think she'd make an amazing president, but I have no faith in America to elect her. the attack ads will be sooo sexist/racist. I'd prefer to see Mark Kelly. let them try to slander an American hero and astronaut.

how does a search engine measure experience They're not looking at your author bio It's all math. When you vectorize the entire internet, the "experience" sites cluster together. Reddit, Forums. vs non-experience: wikipedia. The engines just see what cluster's centroid is closer to your website.

After visiting Oklahoma it's amazing how many churches there are. Like, there's not enough people in OK to actually go to all the churches I saw. Either there are 1000's of churches with congregations less than 10 people, or people are going to multiple churches.
