Banned Book Club Color Edition

Haha, okay, I thought I already told all these people about their cameos years ago when I drew this but maybe I didn't so this is a confusing way to find out. We made a new edition of Banned Book Club with a 20 page bonus story about our book being banned, and included a bunch of our book talks!

It's not even just businesses! I had to stop attending meeting of the CARTOONISTS UNION in my region because half of each meeting was guest from AI companies teaching everyone how to generate animated shorts from their comics and crap.

The place where folks abroad order overpriced oat milks and cage-free eggs is pumping slop-ass ads into our feeds, and went I complained to them, I was answered by an AI agent. Even the hippie commune market I went to deep in rural Australian mountains had AI-generated event ads plastered all over.

It's kind of wild how many businesses whose entire model is convincing you to give up convenience and affordability in exchange for a more ethical option are going all-in on AI and completely shooting themselves in the foot.

Not me I don't think. I don't eat plain ramen, but I do occasionally enjoy Star Popeye, which is sweetened dry ramen chunks. But in the last couple years they removed Popeye from the packaging which made it less cool.

Yeah, the two sequels were drawn by me instead of Ko Hyung-Ju, so everyone looks more like a goofy muppet. No Rules Tonight is an antifascist Christmas special about the one night of the year with no curfew, and Good Old-Fashioned Korean Spirit is about spooky full moon traditions.

And they'd be like "our bad, got it. Anyway, we're still looking for bookstores who want the prints." Eventually I just made them send the box to my mom's house and she held on to them until now when they went in copies of a different book.

I was like "they are not prints. Prints come out of a machine in bulk in seconds. Each of those is one of a kind and made by me by hand, for hours or days at a time until I had to go to the hospital for repetitive stress injuries, and on top of that we spent weeks cutting and signing each one."

Fun fact about these pieces of art folks are finding in Banned Book Club! I originally sent these years ago for a DIFFERENT distributor, but they didn't do anything with them. Mostly because they wouldn't stop calling them prints. To me, to bookstores, libraries, no matter how often I corrected.

My hope was that the new edition of Banned Book Club would help find new readers to counter the people working hard to ban it. But I was pleasantly surprised by the heartwarming thing that's happening... folks picking up the new one so their old copy can be donated to reach readers in need.

Folks are bragging that they've gotten the new Meta Glasses ADA-qualified as hearing aids so you cannot legally keep them from restrooms or locker rooms. But if hearing aid with pervert cam is ok what about: Wheelchairs with car-crushing monster truck wheels? Guide dog with a gatling gun?
