Hmm I genuinely wonder if the Welsh Greens may push for an official split now? I highly doubt it, but the vote clearly highlights a feeling within the rest of the party that theirs been a serious amount of entryism

Andy Burnham is a Westminster leader whom Welsh nationalists could finally work with - but only if he stands up to the devo-sceptics in UK Labour, says Guardian columnist Will Hayward

It’s another classic case of fringe entryism taking over a party and adopting ludicrous policies, whilst the rest of the party is trying to build a mainstream political base

This is incredibly stupid - just from a purely politically perspective this is really dumb. A classic example of a fringe issue being pushed through by hyper politicos that will just alienate a huge number of voters and achieve nothing. The sort of shit Militant used to pull in Labour in 80s

Always important to remember that when it comes to electoral reform Labours first and last priority is always “how do we weaken other leftwing parties whilst, simultaneously, maximising our electoral advantage?”

Yeah cause nothing Israel has done over the last decade or so could possibly explain people’s growing frustration and hostility towards them. If anything they’re entirely blameless in all of this

I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone reasonable who supported Hamas’ attacks, but that doesn’t justify Israel’s actions in Gaza. What the Israelis did is exactly what Hamas wanted them to do. Hamas are willing to destroy the Palestinians as long as they take the Israelis with them, and Israel fell for it

I’m not saying it should be lower on the priority list I’m not making that argument. It just has lower salience, not because everyone harbours a deep anti semitic agenda, it’s just that part of the world has much greater historical and cultural significance than Sudan.

I mean actually do agree it’s really bad and there are much higher casualties, I just don’t agree that it sort of outranks Gaza or that we shouldn’t be putting enormous pressure on Israel because of it

Ryan Morgan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ @ryan1648.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
So you basically believe that western hyper interest in Israel-Palestine (the Holy Land) begins and ends with the foundation of Israel? Interesting

Not completely destroying Gaza was always an option -you know you can wage wars without levelling an entire territory?especially when it doesn’t have anti aircraft capabilities or many anti tank weapons.Even Israelis generals didn’t think a ground assault and huge air campaign was a good idea right?

Ryan Morgan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ @ryan1648.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
But in a much more indirect and complicated sort of way and it gives the UAE nowhere near the level of support it gives to Israel. Like Israel is Americas closest ally and receives billions in military aid every year. The US and Israel relationship is even closer than the UK and US alliance

You do realise it’s not like a % thing right?ISIS only killed 1% of Yazidis yet that met the definition of genocide, perhaps the reason theirs so much international reticence isnt due to disagreements over whether Israeli actions constitute genocide or not, but because of sustained American pressure

I mean all of liberal western activism since WW2 - which is at its simplest defined by commitment to causes around oppressed minorities, war, western imperialism and apartheid. And Israel-Palestine ticks all those boxes plus all the western history carry on

I mean am I surprised Israel fell into the giant elephant trap that Hamas set them? No not really, Bibi was probably deep down hoping something like this would happen or at least not too unhappy it did happen, as it’s given him almost carte blanche to do what he likes in Gaza and the WB

Ryan Morgan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ @ryan1648.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Yeah pretty much - I don’t know what to tell you. The world is horrible and what people care about is almost always tied to what is familiar and close to home
000
Ryan Morgan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ @ryan1648.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Not really, I mean it is, but westerners in general have a far greater understanding of it than any other conflict because of the cultural, religious and historical connections

You’re arguing a very different point here, this isn’t a debate over the historical context for the foundation of Israel it’s over why Israel should maybe stop bombing Palestinians every 5 minutes

Omg I know who they are. Also it’s not likely that the RSF would collapse without UAE support given that the RSF has its own domestic arms industry, oil revenue and territory to extract revenue and troops from

Ryan Morgan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ @ryan1648.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
I’m not saying the conflict is simple it’s just people in the West have far closer personal connection to it and understand the sides much more clearly than really any other foreign conflict that exists due to both the legacy of Christianity and history

Nope cause nobody who the fuck the RSF are or why it’s happening, what the sides are, why the Sudanese army is at war with another part of the Sudanese army?or what the hell are the tribal areas are and how the oil industry is involved and what the fuck any of it means

Ryan Morgan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ @ryan1648.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
After 2 years of denial and restrictions, but as it turns out not even the Americans could stomach starving children on tv. But do you really think that Bibi would’ve buckled without enormous US pressure to allow aid? And even then it’s still heavily restricted
100
Ryan Morgan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ @ryan1648.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
I didn’t say darfur means less, it’s just people in the west don’t care as much. Partly because it’s incredibly complicated, partly because there isn’t a clear entry point to the conflict but mostly because people aren’t really that interested in Sudan. Cause nobody in the West has a connection to it
100
Ryan Morgan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ @ryan1648.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Well considering Israeli government statements, actions of the IDF, denial of water, siege tactics, intentional destruction of infrastructure, denial of aid and total desregard for civilian casualties. I’d probably say the weight of probability is that Israel is engaging in genocidal acts in Gaza
000
Ryan Morgan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ @ryan1648.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
I mean they literally bombed refugee camps, food distribution points and blocked medical supplies and destroyed literally all the hospitals. They have gone as far as they could, before the US put their foot down, to make Gaza uninhabitable. Stop reading IDF press releases like they’re gospel truth

Ryan Morgan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ @ryan1648.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
So you’re argument is basically because most people in the West only care about Israel-Palestine, due to the whole Holy Land, crusades, Jesus, colonial period, historical significance carry on etc, instead of say about Sudan or Myanmar. We should just ignore it? Ok cool 👌

Ryan Morgan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ @ryan1648.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Oh pre warning of attack? that makes a difference I guess, when you can’t escape and they keep bombing refugee camps. Letting a few aid trucks in doth not an adequate supply of food and water make. Alright Prester John, funnily enough you’re not the first person to hear of Ethiopia

Ryan Morgan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ @ryan1648.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
You do realise genocide doesn’t just constitute how many people you kill right? Deliberately inflicting conditions on a group that leads to its destruction, say by destroying the entire country and driving the population into a 3rd of the territory and denying them adequate aid, is also genocide
110
Ryan Morgan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ @ryan1648.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
This is such blatant whataboutism - the Israeli war in Gaza constitutes genocide, going “oh what about Ethiopia!” is unserious and churlish

Thanks, yeah I agree. Having fiscal policies that are better suited to Wales’ economic needs surely is the true goal. This is where I think the debate should be, what frustrates me is basically that this is never really discussed within Welsh politics
