okay this ended up being worth it for the ram alone. i pulled its 8 gb stick of ddr4 and put it in my main desktop, and it turns out its totally fine running at 3600 MT/s!! gonna let memtest86+ do a few more passes to be safe but yeah. $16 stick of ddr4 holy fuck

memtest86+ being displayed. it has passed once already, and is 25% through the next round. listed are 3x sticks of 8 GB DDR4. two are DDR4-3600 XMP, the other is DDR4-2666 (the stick pulled from the Dell)

another updated pinned post: hello world! this is fox32, a fantasy computer platform based on a custom ISA! it runs a graphical multitasking operating system called fox32os. over the past few years, a small community has been built up around it thanks to @zencorner.xyz for the new OS appearance <3

fox32os screenshot. four windows are open, a terminal window, two file browser windows, and a transgender pride flag window. inside the terminal the "tasks" binary has been run, showing all currently running tasks, and "echo hello bluesky" which outputs said text. the file browser windows show the root filesystem and the applications directory.

fox32os screenshot. a terminal window is open, showing the compilation of the included demo program written in the Jackal programming language. a "hello world" window is open to the right of the terminal window, which is the result of the demo program.

currently learning 8080 mnemonics against my will. trying to modify an existing program that was made to be assembled by CP/M's included assembler and auuuuuggghhhhhh the Z80 mnemonics are so much more intuitive

minicom connected to an RC2014 running the ZDE editor. it is displaying some Intel 8080 assembly code

ipods fixed!!!!! using a 6/7th gen ipod for the first time is neat. i both love and hate the new standby screen, i wish it showed info about the currently playing track

6th generation iPod Classic sitting on a bed with headphones plugged into it. on screen is the standby info screen, showing the current time and battery info, and a "playing" icon. the backlight is off so this info is barely visible

i really want to make a little Z80-based CP/M palmtop similar to the HP 200LX. monochrome screens like this are beautiful,,,
