This is the reality of people gaining a basic income floor for the rest of their lives. They don't get lazy. They get busy. They get to doing all the things they consider meaningful, paid or not.

Yesterday was my beautiful wife's 60th birthday. This year it was marked with a sense of both thankfulness that I still have her here and melancholy realizing where she is with her Alzheimer's , this very likely might be her last birthday on this earth. That's hard. She had all her favs yesterday .

I've withdrawn from most progressive or left leaning groups I was a part of , I find they have just as much dogma and intolerance at times as those on the far right. Plus they throw around phobia way too easy if anyone even tries to disagree on many topics or positions.

Cool, another big pro-corporate, anti-worker move from our Conservative prime minister! I am becoming The Joker Source: www.ctvnews.ca/politics/art...
CTV News article text reads: The sources tell CTV News the gover ment has conveyed to them that the legislation will be aimed at introducing binding mediation before strike action is taken. Industry's message to the government was that its traditional tool to use for binding arbitration, Section 107 of the Canadian Labour Code, can only be applied too late in the labour dispute process and from its perspective, does not adequately prevent the damage caused from a work stoppage.
Several union sources CTV News spoke with are on red alert over the possibility of this legislation and contend it will strip workers of their right to strike. Unifor National President Lana Payne expressed worry on Friday in an interview on The Graham Richardson Show on HeartRadio.

Carney to the EU: "We believe that a strong economy is not an end in itself, but the means to a just society. We are committed stewards of our natural heritage. We believe that our prosperity grows when it is shared." I wish the Carney we hear in speeches was the Carney who governs Canada.

All Ed Sheeran had to do is back free speech. Say the genocide is wrong . Could have said the current Israeli government is evil and vile. Could have even added Hamas is evil as well and needs to go as well . But he tried to be neutral and that just won't fly and now he will pay a price .

We can be all elbows up in the world but if we don't get our s*** together when it comes to the environment, it won't be a world or a planet to worry about getting our elbows up. Politicians who play footloose and fancy free with the environment I have no time for no patience for.Idiots!

The Just World fallacy is a helluva drug. The rich love getting passive income and feeling they earned everything they get, and feeling the poor deserve to be poor because they aren't making good choices. Meanwhile, many of the poor and working class go along with this in the hope they too will WIN.

To be honest , I don't care if the Dems win the mid terms or the next President is a Democrat. I simply will never trust that country much again . The arrogance towards other countries and sense of superiority doesn't just run in Republican circles. Its a sickness of hyper patriotism.

There is no question Dolly Parton loved Jesus but the way she loved , showed respect , grace , support and gave from a heart kindled with an overwhelming sense of kindness to everyone, she lived her faith out . What an amazing lady. She will be deeply missed and now she can sing with the angels🙏

Great inequalities of income and wealth insulate the rich from reality and breed contempt for those with less. That contempt fuels even deeper inequality, creating a dangerous feedback loop that ends in pitchforks. Universal basic income and fair taxation of income and wealth can break the cycle.

Dolly Parton represented the best of us. She lived a life full of empathy for others. She never lost touch with her roots and always showed a deep thoughtfulness for the wellbeing of others, especially through her dedication to inspiring a love of reading through her Imagination Library for kids. 😔💔

I think it's very clear, dealing with the corrupt regime in the US we will not get a deal.Better to walk away , pursue other trades partners which I will credit PM Carney doing and permanently move on. The US cannot be trusted and it will be a long time before the world will trust them again .

After rewatching the Odessey , I think it's a 7 for me. It still felt cold . Plus I think some performances were a bit over acted especially Pattinson. Plus the whole Darth Vader inspired suit of armor was cringe for me. It definitely didn't change my opinion of Nolan. He just doesn't do it for me.

A basic income should have been a staple of life a long time ago. Our current system of social help is outdated, punitive as well.Looking back on my life it would have helped when Kathy had cancer in 2007 ,and now with early onset Alzheimer's , it would have prevented so much stress and hardship .

One reason I support universal basic income is that so many people do important, often skilled labor that goes unpaid. UBI would close that gap.

Kathy got measured for her orthopedic chair. It's going to come in yellow. So the ball is finally rolling. Like her OT said today, there are too many hurdles just to get someone a proper chair. Plus the good thing about the chair is it can be used to get her out of the apartment if there was a fire.

We are all flawed human beings. I've made my share stupid mistakes, said things I've regretted, but that's the human condition. But I stay away from people now who don't think their shit stinks. Who can't look in the mirror and see their own sins, flaws and can't say they have regrets or say sorry.

The one thing I learned as Kathy's caregiver is you have to allow yourself not to be perfect. Some days are easy. Some days are hard and a lot of days are in between. The other thing is you have to learn to rest.If she is content and seems to be happy and you can take a power nap , you go for it.

When it comes to music, movies, TV or books never let anyone's critique or dislike diminish your enjoyment of what you love. It's ultimately just someone's opinion and in my view carries no weight concerning my love of something. You don't need your love of something to be popular for it to be valid.

Don't be thrown by the name of the show. It's a nod to the myths that shape life in America. I was invited to debunk the myths that surround UBI, like how people would stop working and how it costs too much and inflation would skyrocket. These are myths. The truth is that UBI is power to the People.

Our closed ERs, "teacher shortages", lower life expectancy & generally high levels of ill-health can be attributed to the leaders who knew those things would happen but kept quiet once the directive was to make the public believe the pandemic was over.

The need for cars will never fully vanish , we can't all bike everywhere so we need way better mass transportation and also a massive increase in affordable electric cars that come in a variety of needs . City driving , and longer hauls . It's very doable.
