This week the HCLIM group are having our working week. What is HCLIM and why should you care? Well, #HCLIM - short for #Harmonie-Climate - is a European high resolution regional climate model, we provide high quality climate data suitable for #ClimateServices + #ClimateAdaptation www.hclim.org

Ah that takes me back... Breidamerkurjokull 2005..
Two people in full waterproofs very wet trudge down a dirty glacier in the pouring rain carrying rucksaks, out of one of which there is a round antenna and radio aerial sticking up. In front of them is, gravelly mud and muddy lakes.

An improbable mix up appears to be delivering the magazine of the Danish veal producers to members of the Danish meteorological society... 🫣
Two printed magazines lie on a table side by side. One is called Vejret and has a picture of the Faroe Islands on the front and on the right a magazine called kalve producenten with a picture of a black calf on the front.

Judging by number of Danes on this #dfds passenger ferry, it is surely time for a reopening of the Esbjerg ferry to UK to facilitate #FlyingLess? - especially as people seek cooler climates for summer holidays, rather than warm ones

Visited the brilliant solar radiation nerds (self-proclained) at DTU today - running the largest array of commercially available solar radiation sensors in Europe through a long-term project. Absolutely fascinating, and a real service to science - and the green transition.

I have been occasionally tracking wildlife sightings via #arter - intrigued to discover that 4 of my recent finds are in fact red listed in Denmark. And what are they? The cuckoo, the coot, the common frog and the lapwing. They all feel like they should be too common to be red listed?

It's Europe Day and perhaps fittingly I'm sitting in a sunny garden enjoying the bird song and re-reading this magisterial work by Neil MacGregor. It's about Germany, but it's also about the heart of Europe. Huge recommend.

One of the nice things about skiing in Norway is that the resorts are so quiet and the air so clean, partly because so many drive electric. Also, the ski chalets often have their own chargers.

Opening text of the first codified laws on Denmark, known as the Jyske lov
"With law shall the country be built but if all men were content with what is theirs and let others enjoy the same right, there would be no need for a law. But no law is as good as the truth, but if one wonders what the truth is, then shall the law show the truth. If the land had no law, then he would have the most who could grab the most by force... The law must be honest, just, reasonable and according to the ways of the people. It must meet their needs and speak plainly, so that all men may know and understand, what the law is. It is not to be made in any man's favor, but for the needs of all them who live in the land. No man shall judge contrary to the law, which the king has given and the country chosen. [...] neither shall he [the king] take it back without the will of the people.
