This sums up my own experience in recent years. My theory is that there are so many genuine existential crises right now that people's instinct is to treat even low-stakes issues (movies! fandoms! personal preferences!) like existential crises. Makes having a normal conversation almost impossible.

You need a good comicbook letterer for your comic? My friend Jackie Marzan has some room in her schedule! You may know her work from 'Monstress' (she took over with 61), 'Dust to Dust', 'Tin Can Society', 'Anito', et al. Check out her lettering and design portfolio... jackiemarzan.myportfolio.com

The season finale of 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' had so much of what I love about Star Trek. I'm so bummed that Ellison has cancelled this and 'Starfleet Academy'. We get a final season of each, but who knows when we'll get more Star Trek with the way things are headed with Paramount, etcetera.

I lived in New York on 9/11/01 (Rockland, outside the city), and I remember it vividly, as most do. Two friends lost family at the towers that day, a firefighter brother and a police officer cousin. 25 years later, I see too many Americans learned the wrong lessons from that day and what came after.

I love Star Trek. I like even bad Star Trek. Every iteration imagines a future where humanity has solved many of our problems, and is thus able to explore the galaxy and “seek out new life and new civilizations.” Hope. Optimism. Celebration of diversity. 🖖 Happy Star Trek Day! 60 years!

Speaking of sharing joy, the new puppet episode of 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' is so fun and so funny! And it totally works, I don't care what anyone says.

So disillusioned with life, and so disheartened by the USA's descension into fascism, exposing so much of what I naively thought we'd been able to fix. I mean, I knew we had a long way to go for "a more perfect union", but I didn't realize how much hate was just in hiding...

I've never understood comicbook fanboys who gatekeep. I've loved comics since before I could read, grew up with few friends who liked comics -- the new Spider-Man movie being loved by people all over the world makes me happy, even if they never read the comics (tho' I hope they would).

Spider-Man was my introduction to comicbooks before I could even read — I like all the Spider-Man movies. ‘Brand New Day’ is wonderful, and easily in the Top 3 for me, right behind ‘Across the Spider-Verse’ and ‘Spider-Man 2’. So much heart, so much action, and I even teared up at the end.

It is genuinely bizarre that we’ve become acclimatized to right wingers throwing a tantrum every time a black person (particularly a black woman) is cast in something, but are also supposed to pretend that this is not racism but related to some other substantive concern.
