The main character is Vanderjack, who was a character created by Jeff Grubb for Dragons of Light (the module where the heroes find the Stone Dragon in Ergoth and meet Silvart the elf who's secretly a silver dragon). I adore the character, always did. It was fun building out his backstory.

Back when I was working on Dragonlance books, I actually wrote a Dragonlance novel! And a short story! My novel was part of a series called Tracy Hickman Presents the Anvil of Time, so it has a sort of linking character with the other books in the series. So it's not fully standalone. But I tried!

As a lifetime lover of all things Arthuriana I have of course read Stephen Lawhead’s Pendragon Cycle and yes, it is heavy on the Christian allegory and themes. That’s why Ben Shapiro produced it. Personally I recommend Bernard Cornwell over Lawhead any day of the week.

You could spend your whole visit in one city like Auckland and still not see everything. There’s the usual tourist traps and Middle Earth locations but genuinely the visit should include time along coastlines and beaches, in forests and nature, maybe the glaciers in the South Island, etc.
