"My pupils, it's time for another quiz question! Conversion 2 is a move that Porygon and its evolutions learn. It changes the user's type to a type that resists or is immune to the last attack taken by the user. What would happen if the attack taken cannot be resisted or made immune to?"

"That's correct. Well done!"

"I have an easy question for my students today. True or False: The Ground type resists the Fire type?"

"This is a question for you! Yes you, the one in the background helping my students! In Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, a new phenomenon known as Shiny Pokemon was introduced. Because of how a Pokemon's shininess was determined, only two forms of Unown could be Shiny. Name those two forms."

"Yes, that's correct! Sheer Force, by nature, can overwhelm a Pokemon's natural instincts. Imagine if you were hit by a full force hit from a Pokemon, you'd probably be too stunned to flee too, wouldn't you?"

(It also applies to Anger Shell, btw)

"That's correct! A gold star for you, Reina! That question was one of the hardest ones I've ever given out!"

Roxanne didn't intend to make her question easy. She knew it was quite hard, and it would stump a lot of even professional Pokemon Trainers. "It has to do with an ability. An ability that the Pokemon has."

they use a move that causes damage? I won't accept an answer that involves a non-damaging move or a status effect like Poison. Golisopod must take damage from a move or ability and not be forced to switch out after taking more than half of its HP in damage."

"I have a tricky question for my students today. Wimpod and Golisopod have an ability that forces them back into their Poke Balls after they lose half of their maximum HP. Without using Status, how could someone force one to stay in battle if those abilities are still active and

She certainly has! Roxanne swears that she's even seen Alice studying well into the night.

"I'll accept that answer. Another way to do it is have an Electric type Pokemon use a move like Magnet Rise, or have a Fire type Pokemon use the move Burn Up."

My question for my students today is this: "I want to make my Pokemon have no type weaknesses. Assuming that my Pokemon doesn't start out with no weakness, such as Eelektross' Levitate nullifying its Ground weakness as soon as it enters battle, how would I go about removing my Pokemon's weakness"

There's been rumors of a strange creature roaming around Rustboro City lately. Could this be what people were talking about?

"Yes, it can learn the move Flail if you put off its evolution until after Level 25. There are other Pokemon that this can apply to as well."

Roxanne @rustbororox.bsky.social · 20/03/2025
"That's correct Alice! Although it is possible to put off an evolution as well. Evolved Pokemon learn new skills at a slower rate than their unevolved forms, or the unevolved form might learn a move that the evolved form can't learn."

Roxanne @rustbororox.bsky.social · 20/03/2025

"Really. You don't have to be afraid to answer. No matter how ridiculous you think the answer is, I'll guarantee you I've heard even more ridiculous."

Roxanne @rustbororox.bsky.social · 18/03/2025
"Very good, Reina! You can also achieve this by evolving a Pokemon that isn't a Steel type into one that is. If that Pokemon is poisoned, they'll remain Poisoned after they evolve."
100
Roxanne @rustbororox.bsky.social · 18/03/2025
"You got it! If a Pokemon gets Poisoned, and then evolves while still Poisoned, they'll still be Poisoned even though they're a Steel type." She shakes her head though. "No answer is stupid if you gave it thought, Asahi. I'm very proud of you."

Roxanne @rustbororox.bsky.social · 18/03/2025
"Maybe that second method was too difficult to guess. Everyone got the first way. I'll reveal the second method at the end of the night. Until then, I'd love to hear each and every one of you give your best guesses!"

"It was a theory at one point that a Beedrill's Twinneedle could poison Steel types, but that's since been debunked."

"I knew you'd be able to get it, Alice." Her smile brightens, and she produces a gold star for her! "Great job!"

Roxanne @rustbororox.bsky.social · 18/03/2025
"To be a master Pokemon Trainer, you have to think outside of the box sometimes. That's the sort of thinking I'm looking from you, Asahi. This other way doesn't have to do with an ability, but it does have to do with how a Pokemon's type interacts with evolution."
000
Roxanne @rustbororox.bsky.social · 18/03/2025
"I'm sorry Alice, that's not correct. You're on the right track though. Can you think of another ability that might do the trick?" Roxanne gives her student a gentle smile. This is all an opportunity to learn, and she's sure Alice will be able to come up with a way.

"I'll give you some extra credit if you can think of a way for a Steel type to be poisoned without using Corrosion, Blue."

Roxanne @rustbororox.bsky.social · 18/03/2025
"It's not the only way, but it is one way to do it. Can you think of another way that a Poison type can poison a Steel type, Asahi?"
000
Roxanne @rustbororox.bsky.social · 18/03/2025
"That's correct! Though this ability only affects a Pokemon's ability to be poisoned, and doesn't affect the damage they take. So a Steel type is still immune to Poison type moves."
000
Roxanne @rustbororox.bsky.social · 18/03/2025
"It's quiz time! The Steel type is immune to being Poisoned. However, there are still two known ways to poison a Steel type, name me one of those ways."

"That's right, Nincada are native to Galar as well, aren't they?" She can only imagine how horrifying it might be. "You can find Nincada to the east of the city rather often."
100
Roxanne @rustbororox.bsky.social · 17/03/2025
"Yes, that's correct!" She claps her hands happily, smiling at Alice. "Nincada evolves into Ninjask, and with it, Shedinja comes into being. In a very technical sense, you could say that Nincada evolves into two different Pokemon at the same time. That was a tough question, but you aced it!"

Roxanne @rustbororox.bsky.social · 17/03/2025
"Class, the question for today is this. Of all the different Pokemon we've discovered, there is only one that evolves into two different Pokemon at the exact same time. Which Pokemon is this, and what do they evolve into?"
