Last Friday, I joined my fellow members of Pitt CVR and IDM to participate in “SciTech” days at the #CarnegieScienceCenter here in #Pittsburgh. I loved coming to this science center as a kid and now more than ever recognize the importance of encouraging the future scientists of America 👩‍🔬 👨‍🔬 🦠 🔬

We have a new pre-print on #Oropouche virus! Recent evidence suggests this emerging #bunyavirus may be associated with #verticaltransmission. Using ex vivo models of the placenta, we found villous trophoblasts are permissive to infection with the #prototype strain BeAn19991.
