Haha fear not. I was unfairly polarized because every sip map I’ve ever made has been ship on ship combat.

I’m detecting a second boat with distinct ghost ship energy. Real talk though, that’s why the first boat is off center.

You joke, but my dragon knight player actually saw the Knight Reddit post and sent it to me. They are pondering reclassing their censor.

A playtester in our Saturday game played a 9th level knight and it was VERY cinematic!

I feel that. There have been many times now that I’ve written something and a friend says something like “Oh yeah that’s like Attack on Titan + Dune” and I’m just stuck there blinking.

Very cool. Were there any literary inspirations for this one?

I love how the core book invites these types of space traveler Heroes. I remember it feeling very challenging to work these types of stories into DnD. The “sci-fi doesn’t work so good here because of equal law and chaos” idea was pretty genius.

Oh this one is chilling. Reminds me of the old advice that we often dislike others for characteristics or behaviors that we ourselves have. Reflections can be very unworldly and creepy in that way for sure for sure. There is so much character exploration that this can prompt.

OHHHH! Yes yes yes! When I introduced draw steel to my college friends they tracked heroic resources with plastic gemstones in empty glass potion bottles. It was a huge hit.

This is really cool. Do you know of a great resource for getting set up to record a game of Draw Steel. I’m a thinking of recording the playtest of an adventure I am brewing with my group as a resource for other directors.

Dang just when I think I have my favorite already picked out. I’m getting some awesome Hollow Knight Silk Song vibes from this one. This heart makes me deeply uncomfortable. Reminds me of religious devotion to something that is harming you and those around you, not realizing until it is too late

My group switched to Draw Steel after a 5 year lvl 1-20 5E campaign. We love it. We have the story telling well in hand ourselves and don’t need rules for that. We want the combats to be challenging, cinematic, and fast paced. We find that we cover more ground with Draw Steel.

The cinematic of a planet-like celestial body raining down upon the earth is so evocative. Reminds me of the Thread in the Dragonriders of Pern

That’s what we call brand consistency! When your products are consistently excellent, the people will come back to the well for more.

Oh that’s fun. Reminds me of the Spren from the stormlight archive. A “Fire of War” that is growing into something different. What could a “Fire of War” become? Certainly traveling with a Blacksmith will give the spirit some opportunities to witness fires of other natures.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I think the arts in the Draw Steel core books are iconic and definitely communicate a vibe. Some favorites that spring to mind are the “Punk Time Raiders,” the “Void Elementalist,” and the “Spartan Hoplite Kobolds”

That’s awesome! IMO it’s very important to allow players to change their options around. What is the narrative significance of the fire spirit?

That’s rad! Polearms are so fun. One of my favorite characters was a polearm wielding farmer who would enter a meditative battle trance. Mechanically they were a frenzy barbarian, but the mechanics were easy to reflavor. What class is your character “under the hood?”

I love the weapon transformation as a part of the character transformation. Very cinematic!

Very clever way to get diverse and to engage with more of Draw Steel's core mechanics. Fire Damage + Eldritch Horror Not a typical pairing of ideas or themes. This is a great showcase of how specific and fringe you can get after a few hearts deliver on the core promise or the "expected"

Power to you! A word of caution: Someone else WILL make something similar to you. Ideas are a dime a dozen, and it's never been easier to self publish. However, if you are passionate about the project and go through many iterations, the results will be a piece of content that is uniquely "yours"

Here here! It is fascinating to see how reluctant people are to iterate on their TTRPGs, but have no qualms playing and enjoying the new Zelda, Dark Souls, GTA, etc... As designers, we learn, evolve, and move forward. "Link to the Past" being great is no reason to not play "Ocarina of Time".

My players DO NOT enjoy the mechanics of Draw Steel negotiations. That said, they LOVE to role play negotiations. And the fact that Draw Steel has negotiations as a core system forces adventure writers to include more of them and to fully flesh out their motivations and I get great use out of it.

Definitely, they discover some “routines” for different scenarios.

For real! I’ll typically summarize Draw Steel as “an evolution of DnD” TTRPG is a bridge too far for the laymen

I had the same thought the first time I heard that players choose. My experience with my VERY optimized and tactical min maxers has been that they rarely take even a full minute to choose who will go first, then the dwindling options decide the rest of the order quickly from there.
