I had no idea until moving to Seattle 15yrs ago that Washington state farmers grew peaches. They are large, firm, juicy & sweet. Seriously, if you ever find yourself in WA or able to get WA peaches July-September, do not miss out! Met Market promos them as “peach-o-rama” but PCC has good ones, too.

While sharing my latest thrift acquisition w my wife, I realized I now have a 3 boot rotation that cost more than $1,000 retail for which I paid less than a third of that including shipping. And I should have these for a very long time since they’re all quality enough to resole when the time comes.

Taking my 2 teen daughters fly fishing next week and we’re wet wading (cuz hot out), but I don’t have felt sole boots for them, and don’t wanna spend $ on a 1-2 use item they’ll outgrow. So I bought $20 of heavy duty felt & shoe glue to make some out of old hiking boots. Gonna work perfectly!

Another awesome thrift find arrived. Helm boots that retail for $300, I found for $115. They don’t even have a crease from being worn and smell new. So nice! I was gonna resole a black pair I thrifted 2yrs ago, but they’re not really worth it & would have cost more than these, which are recraftable.

Honestly, working out, plus buying a lot of CIAO drinks from San Pellegrino. They’re delicious. 5-10 calories/can, no added sugar. They have helped me cut way back on my terrible cola addiction and it’s mostly water and some fruit juice.

Not a life altering thing but my slow steady foray into properly seasoning a cast iron skillet took another step last night when my 15 year old baked a giant cookie in it. Came out clean! I will feel it’s working when I finally make cornbread in it successfully. But this was good!

Just sharing another thrift deal. Got Thursday Vanguards for $160 their “Reboot” site. American made. Horween Chromexel leather. First owner couldn’t have more than tried them on! I will hit the trifecta if I can find a black pair of boots, and I may not need to buy boots for at least a decade!

Took my girls to Mystic Lake, a spot in the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness in Montana that I visited many times. They wanted to see it. And as you may see from this vid, it’s a stunning spot. Three mile hike up a mtn trail and this clip walking thru the saddle of two mtns is worth the effort.

I started thirfting my clothes a couple years ago, finding some very nice stuff like Rhone shirts for work, new with tags for like $40. But this. $350 boots maybe worn once if at all, $69. I need to break them in but these will last for life. Resoleable full goodyear welt and thick leather. Killer.

Just nabbed these babies to ratchet up interval speed. The Rebel is now my daily shoe and this is for intervals. If this works well, in a few weeks I’ll decide if I want to go all the way down to a track spike or the Streakfly or similar.

I tend to prefer Guinness or Pilsners, and most IPAs give me a headache. Got this 12pk at Costco for $13. Brewed by Deschutes in Bend, OR. Very tasty. Not too much alcohol. Definitely will buy if I see it again. Tho a 12pk takes me a few months to get through at my pace.

My 10x200m workout today. On the Burke Gilman Trail, not a track. I got up too late to hit a track before schools started. My objective right now is just to sorta wake up my body to faster turnover after years of marathons and ultras. In a month or so, I will get more specific workouts for the mile.

My first five splits in 42.2, 42.7, 43.5, 42.9, and 42.6.

My last five splits in 40.0, 40.2, 40.1, 41.0, and 37.4.

Got some new shoes yesterday for my faster sessions. These will do nicely as I reawaken my legs to intervals shorter than 800m. I’ve been doing 8x200 in NB 1080s, and while that’s not horrible, it’s not really a shoe that helps me turn over. These feel more fun.
