My doomcairn. I am largely bedbound, but I have had doomcairns all my life. This is a doomcairn built with experience. Sorry for the naked pillow on bed laundry day.

Teal deer: man that’s a lot of stuff next to the bed.

In this doom cairn, made up of two shelves and a IKEA pegboard plus the floor. Dog treat for Timbit plus her nighttime cbd treats because I didn’t put them away last night, a ball of fur from Timbit’s grooming last night, my phone, a pen, and some earbuds, trash cup formerly used for V8, my hot flash emergency fan, water bottle and hand sanitizer, paperwork, a games magazine, a short story anthology by Bluesky’s own Tom Cox, melatonin, my cpap, my iPad rest, my watch charger, my Home speaker, my ancient AirPods, an IKEA pegboard shelf, one of my USB hubs, and a power strip.
Not pictured: any of the three below bed drawers which are themselves separate doomcairns of socks and washcloths and craft stuff; hygiene supplies and medication; and pet grooming supplies. Also not shown: the rest of the pegboard which is more USB cabling, my eye mask, a paperwork bin, a glasses shelf, pride flags, and my Emotional Support Rush Hat (for places Timbit can’t go).
For people on the edge about alt text: this is wildly over the top. The first line would work. But I love alt text.

Dinner just got here, and Timbit levitated off the bed to alert the house. I swear she had hang time and did a vertical takeoff. She’s back now and very proud of herself.

This story has been a huge blessing in my life. When ME/CFS gets me down, your telling of events in a country I’ll never see reminds me that goofiness is and has always been a global thing. I always laugh! Also, my dog was being born while this was going on. She’s six today. Dog tax.

I’m officially in deeper PEM from dental work than I was after the Rush concert. I credit the work my family did to help me rest for part of the difference. Still in good spirits. And, of course, I have a Timbit. Resting now.

We have a pair of littermate sister torties, and the cobby body one chirps and the oriental shorthair body type yowls like a full on Siamese. They were born in a foster home. Mom was a black queen.

Timbit plus what she did to my door while I was at Rush and my husband was at work. She didn’t injure herself, and to be fair she is a Covid baby and has literally never been alone in her life. Treats and chews were insufficient to calm her. She also remembers how to get out of her crate…

These two have been life goals for me.

This is my new grandson, obtained from the Cat Distribution System by my Elder Spawn. He is a former lost kitten now about six weeks old. He’s black with huge eyes, enormous ears and he’s very thin. In this picture he’s sitting on her shoulder, eating his dinner from a plate she’s holding for him.
He joins my not pictured feline adult granddaughters in my daughter’s household.

Credit Bored Panda for pic. This is a quill-less hedgehog. I did my best with the alt text, but hopefully my disabled readers will forgive me if I failed here.

Imagine a pinkish grey droplet of water. Now put it on its side while retaining its shape. Add two nostrils to the tapered tip, two black eyes around halfway down the tip, and two roughly triangular ears where the droplet widens out and rounds, and a little foot designed for digging with big nails sticking out at the bottom. Its skin is wrinkled and loose. It is a bald hedgehog. His name is Nelson and he was taken in by a rescue. If this is hard to imagine, I am sorry. Spineless hedgehogs are difficult to describe.

Timbit, my Pomeranian dog, has a huge name. But it starts with Timbit von Fizzgig, because that critter is a Pom. Pet tax:

I don’t live in an apartment, but I have said these exact words with my tortie Kaylee. Pet tax! Apologies for the focus issues; my hands shake from my chronic illness.

Kaylee is in the middle of a trio of pets: Timbit on the left and Kaylee’s littermate River on the right. Timbit is a white Pomeranian and is still nervous about the cats. Kaylee is a dark tortie with a bright orange streak down the middle of her nose. Her sister has the same coloring. They look rather like burnt toast. Not pictured: River squeaks and trills and has a more american shorthair body, while Kaylee yowls and has a very oriental frame and tail.

Kaylee is out of focus here, but her nose streak is really visible and so is a same colored splotch on her left neck and chest.

Tuesday night I looked at my face and noticed swelling on my left jawline. Other Oikos members saw it too. I couldn’t eat because it hurt too much to open my mouth. Drinking was also unpleasant. It was worse on Wednesday. I decided I couldn’t wait for next Tuesday. Today I look like this:

J stood up and said “Ok.” This is the signal for Evening Foodtime. A flash of herding behavior lit up a corner of Timbit’s brain, and she nosed Kaylee’s butt to get the cat off the bed. No doubt about it, it worked. Silly little girl. How she looks right now.
