Since I have no Jashin-chan to read at the moment I read Patra-chan, which is another manga by Yukiwo (and is referenced quite a few times in Jashin-chan's season 3). It has a pretty similar set up to Jashin-chan with an alien princess coming to live with two sisters.

One of the strangest anime adaptations I've ever seen, but I have much more respect for this strange adaptation than if it had just tried to retell Fate/Extra's story.

One more episode left but I see it's a double length one so I'll save it for later today instead of watching it right now

Something I really like about the anime is how every episode's ED has a different visual of that episode's master/servant. I wonder if there's a gallery of the full art somewhere since in the show the art scrolls in a way that makes it impossible to screenshot the entire art.

As the second half of Alice's story, episode 7 continues the same art direction and is just as gorgeous to look at. They however concluded the stratum's battle in a really bizarre way and also Nursery Rhyme only appeared in one scene so that's very disappointing.

Episode 6 looks so good I want to make several video clips of it, but that's too much effort so I'll just post a bunch of screenshots I took. Easily the best episode of the show just for its visual design alone, but also good episode in general (btw this show was directed by the same guy as Madoka)

There it is: the important volume 8 scene that didn't happen in the anime

130

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Crazy lore drop that was completely omitted in the anime

120

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

The first episode is very different from what I expected it'd be, but I am loving the dynamic between Nia and her maid so I'm very much looking forward to seeing how this show develops and what kind of shenanigans they're getting into together.

This is also good content suggested in the OP

The manga is so old that Jashin-chan was playing on a DS instead (3DS was already out by the time the manga started but that's clearly a DS Lite so I guess Yurine just can't afford a 3DS, or even a DSi)

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

I don't think Rani ever had a hat in the game so this is a good redesign

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

This is the chapter the anime adaptation started with. Truly baffling choice to start an anime adaptation with chapter 59, but they changed the series' chronology significantly and moved a lot of the early chapters to be later in the story (in the manga even Poporon has been introduced by now)

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

I think she is the biggest scrimblo of the show however

This bit was great though

I don't really have much to say about the first episode since it's just introducing the new cast but I do like these designs

One thing the anime does that's completely original is the locations. The game took place entirely in an ethereal underwater zone, and while it worked for the game's atmosphere, I think it's a good thing the anime goes with original locations that are nothing like what the game had.

With Fate/Extra's remake coming soon I feel inspired to watch the anime adaptation now.

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Starting with chapter 39 the translation switches from Jyashin-chan to Jashin-chan so all is right in the world now (the scanlation in general feel higher quality as well now, I wonder if a different group started working on this series at this point)

110

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

Aasahi seems like a fun addition to the cast, also I like her "The Gyoza" shirt

140

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

This gag feels like it's specifically written with the hope of an eventual anime adaptation in mind, and the anime did indeed do it by name dropping Miyu Kubota

140

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Jashin-chan buying a deer from Amazon is one of the things the anime cut out completely for some reason but it also referenced Azusa the Second a lot despite never appearing in the anime, so finally seeing this deer's origin feels special.

110

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I am also mildly bothered the manga's translation says fuck but if only Jashin-chan and no one else says fuck then maybe it's appropriate.

110

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I am mildly bothered that the manga's translation romanises her name as Jyashin-chan.

110

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Well since I've watched all of the anime I've got no choice but to read the manga now.

There is one thing about this game that drives me crazy though. Why is A the load game button and why is there no confirmation when you press A on a save file? I can't even count the amount of times I've accidentally loaded a file when I meant to save instead.

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

It also took me quite a while to beat the first stage because I didn't quite understand how movement on the map and conquering areas works, but now that I understand it better I think this game seems pretty fun. Also I love Lily, she is a silly scrimblo.

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

My first impression of Great Villainess is that this game plays like Sengoku Rance mixed with Langrisser, but for some reason despite having the same unit types, the weapon triangle's priorities are the exact opposite from what Langrisser has.

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Watched Apocalypse Day, and with that I am now done with all of Jashin-chan. This special is likely the last Jashin-chan anime we'll ever get so it's nice it actually gave a spotlight to every single character in the show. It's another sponsored tourism ad but not as blatant about it as the S3 ones.

220

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Oh this show is gonna have 23 episodes (according to MAL at least). I was worried they're gonna cram all of Suikoden II into 12 episodes but with 23 episodes they might actually be able to tell the game's story without significant compromises.

030

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

But despite the pacing issues the first episode was actually better than I expected. I wouldn't recommend this to someone who hasn't already played Suikoden II but it's been so long since I played it that it's nice revisiting this story like this. Also it's got end cards, that's cool.

140

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

My expectations are low but I feel obligated to check this out.

160

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

And that's the end of Fuga

030

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Great final episode though. It started like it had actual plot with all the Ecute stuff before turning into Jashin-chan's usual comedy routine and then ending it all in a way that would be really unsatisfying for most shows but feels very fitting for Jashin-chan's insanity.

110

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

I really gotta wonder what's the point of introducing Ecute in the 3rd season since she gets to do barely anything before the season ends, and I highly doubt Jashin-chan is going to get a 4th season so everything with Ecute is completely unresolved. She's super cute though.

110

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

This girl is shown in the OP so I was wondering when she's getting introduced but it's at the end of episode 11 so I guess I'll have to read the manga if I want to see more of her. She is very cute though.

220

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

4 episodes of sponsored tourism episodes back to back is way too much for a 12 episode season, these episodes had some great moments but I'm glad they're over now and the show finally going to get back to its usual shtick in the next episode. Also look at her.

110

Hannes @rucean.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Also I haven't mentioned this in the thread until now but I love how there's an end card for every chapter. It's pretty rare for anime to do end cards and it's especially rare for video games to do that, but I really like it when games or anime have them.
