that applies to other stuff than linux. I know that in your original message you mentioned installing a non root app on linux, but even in that case, being able to "find" the root password is already more destructive than just being able to do normal app stuff

I could be mistaking tho, but from what I understood, these are examples of ways to exploit it in a pretty bad way

you can read the /dev/input or whatever it is to see the timing of inputs, and there has been research about the correlation of the timing and the actual letters you entered. I think you can also see which websites are being visited, and that may be a thing on windows even across different users

yippee (/s) linux, android, windows and macos affected you can just get events about any files being modified linux is working on a fix, microsoft is half endorsing it (calling it an "undocumented feature"), and macos/android have no plans yet inoti.fyi

the more I learn about formal verification of software, the more absurd it becomes that it isn't commonplace in all mainstream software development

A lot of the fun is the process. I have a dslr camera, and I'll keep on having fun taking pictures even if I could make what I want using ai art because for me, the fun in taking pictures is the process, problem solving and all that

AuDHDuck @rubberducky.guru · 24/09/2026
You can really get inspired by someone doing art by the techniques they use, the process, the type of stuff they like to draw/capture, but from single images, you will just get ideas, not human inspiration.
110
AuDHDuck @rubberducky.guru · 24/09/2026
yeah I'm basically with you on that one. A single AI art could "inspire" you, but honestly it's more about just "oh that's interesting there's some parts of this art that I would want to make" and much less like an actual person inspiring you.
110
AuDHDuck @rubberducky.guru · 24/09/2026
also on the selling point, I would add that another issue is that it is difficult to guess/know how much time, effort and thought the artist put into the actual art, because people don't want to pay someone who took the same time/effort/thought as making a colored square
010
AuDHDuck @rubberducky.guru · 24/09/2026
So I think the reason why a lot of people get angry at it (again excluding energy use and training data) is because it mimics human creativity way more than other stuff and it is very difficult to know what the human wanted to do vs. what the ai just "guessed" by imitating

AuDHDuck @rubberducky.guru · 24/09/2026
The "difference" (imo) between slapping a normal art on a t-shirt (which you didn't make yourself, but you had the idea of the t-shirt and the art) and ai art is that the ai art will take much more liberties in the final output, meaning the final art is much less your actual work
110
AuDHDuck @rubberducky.guru · 24/09/2026
Is it yours partially? I think it is for the part that you actually thought of and wanted to look like something you had in mind.
110
AuDHDuck @rubberducky.guru · 24/09/2026
If you were actually trying to sell it or actually trying to make it "your art", the issue would mainly be that you didn't really think of all the details that was generated, so it's not entirely your art.

AuDHDuck @rubberducky.guru · 24/09/2026
the way I look at it, (ignoring energy use and data harvesting issues for this argument), is more on a scale. You could have just a vague idea of what you want for, idk, a phone lockscreen, and that would be pretty much fine.

Hateslopslop: Low-effort discourse about hateslop, usually consisting of pointing at negativity and going “hateslop” without adding much nuance about the lack of nuance.

AuDHDuck @rubberducky.guru · 24/09/2026
this is a big reason why I'm rarely in the social media and discourse parts of the internet (I am not targeting anything specifically, I just had the idea to post this in class)

AuDHDuck @rubberducky.guru · 24/09/2026
Hateslop: Low-effort, low-nuance criticism that reduces something to being simply bad, without seriously engaging with its strengths, context, or where the criticism actually applies, even if the criticism itself may be valid.

Not yet. We have plans to add more payment methods, but currently only offer Play Store in-app payments, which requires Play Services.

oh yeah signal now supports (beta) registering a new account without a phone number :) it's a one-time purchase to deter spam/bots. I hope they support other types of payment!

yeah either in another tab or restarting ff sometimes. popping it in another time often happens when I search a new thing and the page under hasn't finished loading I think? I'm not completely sure but yeah truly epic

all my *.vpn.azom.dev requests have the A record 10.100.0.1 it works really well apart from firefox mobile and I have no clue what's going on

is there anyone else feeling that firefox mobile is very slow at search engine queries and opening websites (basically the same thing)? And often it just straight up doesn't want to open any of my homelab service in my vpn while chromium (vanadium) works just fine and is fast (but no adblocker)

there is "version-migrate", which is actually pretty close on the explicit typed migration side, but it still feels more like a migration/storage framework than “this rust struct is my app state. give me snapshots and transactional updates.”
020
AuDHDuck @rubberducky.guru · 08/09/2026
genuinely don't know how “persist this rust state struct, give me safe snapshots/updates, and let me evolve it with explicit type-checked migrations” isn't already a solved small-app abstraction. all the pieces exist, but apparently not quite this combination.

I wonder what happens if you just remove all mentions of the P vs NP problem in the training data. Would an LLM approach it differently? Could also work for any problem where there is discussion about the answer in the training data...

I wonder when is someone gonna make the microsoft and adobe suite work flawlessly on linux just by telling an LLM to do it. Not that I like any of those apps, but for microsoft especially, it is kinda needed for school and the web version is not cutting it...

We're well into the process of converting the Messaging app included in GrapheneOS into a modern app. We'll be making a new release later today with a completely overhauled user interface written in Android Compose. We've made a massive amount of other improvements and bug fixes beyond that too.
