That one was actually better than I thought it’d be. Not bad for having come out during the 2000s-2010s found footage glut. Next up we’re transferring the same concept to Korea done seven years later. Let’s see if they fare better. 14) Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum (2018 - Shudder, Prime, Tubi, etc)
Poster for Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum showing a group of people with cameras at one end of a dark, dilapidated hallway filming toward the viewer.

Tonight I think we’re gonna hit a double feature on a theme. Found footage reality tv asylum dives. First up: 13) Grave Encounters (2011 - Shudder, Tubi, Prime, etc)
Poster for Grave Encounters. Everything is in washed out tan and brown colors almost like sepia tone. The bottom shows the crew of four people (3 men, 1 woman) standing and holding cameras. The top is a wide shot of a three story dilapidated building.

Tag: They were searching for proof… They found it.

Another one I haven’t seen since it came out and forgot to tag last night. This is more “kids on bikes” than pure horror but it’s got the classic Universal Monsters characters in it so it counts. It also answers the age old question: Does Wolfman have nards? 12) The Monster Squad (1987 - Prime)
Poster for The Monster Squad showing the kids posing on the hood of a car wielding lanterns and weapons. Across the cloudy night sky in the background are the faces of the Monsters.

Tag: You know who to call when you have ghosts. But who do you call when you have monsters?

Another year, another installment of this anthology series. 11) V/H/S/Mixtape (2026 - Shudder)
Poster for VHS Mixtape showing a skull and spinal column on a piece of bloodstained lined paper where the eyes and front of the skull are the wheels of a cassette tape and tape hangs down like pouring rivulets of blood.

Tag: Low Fidelity, High Bodycount.

Started this one last night but forgot to tag it. Resuming it this morning after getting my annual flu shot and Covid booster. We’re about a third of the way into the challenge and we’re revisiting one I haven’t seen since it came out. 10) Tremors (1990 - Peacock)
Poster for Tremors showing three people standing above ground with desert mountains, a building and a water tower in the distance. Below the ground shows the opened toothy maw of a snake-like Graboid monster pointed toward the surface.

The tag reads: They say there’s nothing new under the sun. But under the ground…

And after Resident Evil the other night, let’s return to the video game adaptation well to drink once more. This time liminal horror in Japan! 9) Exit 8 [8番出口] (2025 - Shudder)
Poster for Exit 8 showing the title in both English and Japanese with the tag: A Genki Kawamura Film.

Poster depicts a Möbius strip of tiled subway station tunnel with characters walking along its twisting surface on a bright yellow background.

Tonight we’re revisiting a movie I saw the first time during its theatrical run. I remember very very little about it though so, you know, 35ish years is probably long enough to give it another look. 8) The People Under the Stairs (1991 - Peacock)
Poster for The People Under the Stairs showing three houses from a distance. The middle one is backlit dramatically and all the lights in the windows are on. The dark cloudy sky above is overlaid with a skull.

Tagline: In every neighborbood there is one house that adults whisper about and children cross the street to avoid. Now Wes Craven, creator of "A Nightmare on Elm Street,” takes you inside…

Tonight we’re going to take a stab at Jane Schoenbrun’s latest after having done two of their others over the last few years. Signed up for a one week free trial of Mubi to get my mitts on this one. 6) Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (2026 - Mubi)
Posted for Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma showing Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson standing side by side, drenched in blood, in front of a pattern of concentric squares that are overlaid with images of a snowy forest. At the top the tag reads “Blood. Lust.”

Well that was about as bleh as I expected after the last one. Oh well. One more for the books. Next up we’re taking a stab at something recent and random that had decent reviews on Shudder. 5) Night of the Reaper (20205 - Shudder)

Jumping back in for night 2 with a return to a series we visited last year. I saw the original The Strangers in theaters and watched it again for the first time since then. Tonight, we dip into the first of a handful of recent sequels. 3) The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018 - HBO Max)

As I said earlier today in passing, yes I’m still alive. Not that anyone was particularly clamoring for updates on that front but there you go. Some proof of life content from when the local Spirit Halloween opened recently and I recharged my spooky reservoir for another year.
The picture is one of those “take your photo” style boards where you stick your face through a hole where a character’s face would be at Spirit Halloween. The frame is wooden and rustic looking, and the image is of the hooded Spirit logo ghost character. Rob‘s face in the gap cuts his eyes to the side and looks vaguely concerned. The text on the image reads Camp Harbor Lake 2026 Spirit camper of the week.

Hey all. I know we’re all doing bad rn, but if anyone is in a position to help w/ even a few bucks, it’d mean the world. Over the last couple months we’ve fallen behind on multiple bills + roommate had to throw a couple grand at his car to get it to pass inspection so he can get to work. Links ⬇️

Okay. So I didn’t think this was going to help as much as it did but the Jello (despite me being tired of lime flavor) is really tamping down the hunger! I figured my body would just register it as “ugh yet more liquid” but it’s definitely making my hollow stomach feel better!

I know I haven’t posted much over here but I just figured I’d inform y’all that I discovered Angine De Poitrine a few weeks ago (like everyone else did) and they’ve been pretty much consuming my brain since then.

Just returned from a 3pm mid-storm shovel session because if we waited until tomorrow it would have been too much at once. My job may be ass but this coat they provided is toasty warm and weather repellant so that’s a win at least. Stay safe out there, y’all!
Rob is bundled up, standing at the bottom of a set of short steps covered in snow. He’s holding an orange plastic shovel in one hand an apprehensive look on his face. A shot of a dumpster with piled mounds of snow taller than the top of it. Blowing drifts are high enough to almost enter the dumpster’s open mouth. Rob with shovel standing next to one of the mounds of snow on the left of the imagine with the dumpster on the right side of the image to show scale - he’s 6’2”. A selfie showing a similar expression to the first image. Snow is crusted in his beard and on the exposed front of a faux-fur ushanka hat.
